Took it today and got it over with. Funny thing was (first time taking it) I missed 4 goofy questions during the test. I saw they came back up toward the end to answer again. I didnt realize it would be part of the score so I was just hitting a letter/answer to get it done. Well they kept coming back up and I was not watching which letter I hit before, then I saw my missed question number started to climb, LOL!

This is the first year I took the test and I thought it would stop me at level 1, but it let me complete level 2. I did get the level 2 card. Guess I should consider myself lucky.

I believe the ACE program should be expanded. Each parent should have to take a special multiple choice test complete with video examples where they are instructed on how to react based on different circumstances with coaches, umpire calls, their daughters playing time, cooler rules, and what is appropriate to shout to both their child and the opposition. Level two which would be required their second year would explain the crow hop, whether a slapper and bunter offered, what is interference and obstruction and proper etiquitte when placing folding chairs along the fence. Parents would present their card at admission and would receive a special ACE hand stamp good for the weekend. The test would again be presented in video form by Olympic gold medal and 8 time National Championship coach Mike Candrea.

Actually, there is more than a kernel of sense in your parody. We watched a HS game recently where the outrageous insults thrown at the umpiring crew were both embarrassing and uninformed, and they probably had a subconscious effect on things like strike zones and bang bang plays.

Not at all advocating more ACE tests in the sport, but I do think that there is a lot that the fans could do to either learn more about the sport or learn how to sit on themselves during games. ;&

Gofer the K that is classic!!!

I was level 2 certified prior to this year and when I tried to get level 3 they demoted me back to level 1. For what ever reason it would not allow me to take the 3 test only 1. It is a total waste of time. The only reason it was worth it is for the background check which I had to have.

Ted is having the same problem and Warren Jones is going to try to find out from ASA Headquarters what is going on. If the problem doesn't get fixed before Dayton Metro, I assume that last year's certification will be accepted.

This is a racket--as a Prosecuting Attorney, my background check was rather thorough, as was my initial check years ago for my National Security Clearance. I have also been background checked and fingerprinted for: bonding purposes, school chaperone, school volunteer(sports and reading tutor), Federal Firearms license, and for several professional positions. All anyone would have to do is call the local Cheif of Police or Sheriff, give them some very basic info, and they could instantly vet the prospective coach's criminal record. I had read somewhere that this program "screens" about 10000 people in Ohio alone, so that is some rather serious jack in return for postage, a pamphlet, sheet of paper, lanyard and two plastic cards!
And, they took my money THIS year and then I am locked out of the test.

Did you use the same logon as last year? If not, it won't pick up what you passed previously.

SoCal has it right. Turns out that if Ted had requested his new background check and his new ACE level request with the logon he used last year, everything would have been cool. ASA has him hooked up now to complete the process.
