A non-softball related rant. . .
A young lady earned her Girl Scout Gold Award and her project was selected at the national level for being such an exceptional project; she will receive thousands of dollars in scholarships and travel across the country to be recognized for her efforts. The president of Girl Scouts tweeted about her and her picture and story are posted on the national website.

Here is the adult misbehavior: in response to the posting, dozens of adult volunteers posted in social media how awful it is that this young lady's uniform vest is NOT in compliance with badge placement. The rants involved about what a uniform means and how it should be worn are shameful! Yes, there are instructions about what insignia should be placed where but Girl Scouts does not have uniform inspections the way other organizations do. The military-esque portion of the program was removed about 50 years ago.

Now girls are questioning their adults about what the big deal is and why these adults are bullying this girl.

Out of the mouths of babes. . .adults should be mindful at all times how their words and actions reflect poorly and contradict the message they are trying to teach their kids.

Adults almost always are the ones who ruins things for kids. In the case of softball , i will quote my little fat friend with the fact that the ideal team would be all orphans.

I have also seen coaches behaving badly. Those coaches should have a team of horrible parents.

I wish I could remember the name of the team.....

It was a team from Michigan, we played them 2 summers ago in a tournament up in Toledo. The guy coaching the team was a nut, his whole outfield was crying. When the game was over and he gave them his rundown of how he thought they played there had to have been 6 more of them who started crying.

I think my kid threw the trophy she won away around 6 months ago. If I knew who that guy was I would have mailed it to him. He seemed to want one real bad.

I hate to hear about the adult bullies, it happens in everything, I can't imagine what kind of character an adult has to have to act like that. But, it's nice to see a young girl work hard to earn a national honor and it sounds like she has some awesome friends. Kudos to her for that big-time award!
