? ?Just got a 65" hdtv set up about a month ago, it seems our households are very similiar. My knucklehead sons play Call of Duty constantly. I cant wait till the baesball season starts so i can live in front of the MLB package watching 162 Yankees games. . I do lose all rights to the women of the house when "American Idol" is on ?tho

That's why they invented the DVR!
Nobody has to miss anything!!!

Well, Im a wife and my DH tried to kill our TV for years. ?Best Buy is running awesome Sales and we just got a 47" HDTV LCD. Original price was 2400.00 and after rebates and the sale they had, we left spending 1400.00 with tax. ?That was my selling point. ? I do believe the stores are running huge AFTER superbowl sales on 47" and up TV's.
BTW..Im enjoying this as much as my husband.

I was told not to get a PLasma if you play video games on it as it can burn the image in the screen. ?Just an FYI especially for Wii

Good Luck

In addition, Best Buy runs a lot of 18 month same as cash sales. At Thanksgiving I got 2 20" flat panels and a 36" flat panel for $1,000. All three were HD. So, no money down and I'll have it paid long before the 18 months is up. ;)

ringer,
the 73' DLP they have at Best Buy is burning a hole into my skull I've looked at the picture so much, I even drove up to clean it, talk to it and caress it's sides lovingly (I was promptly assisted from Best Buy and slapped with a restraining order, but that's rather here nor there)
maybe in the summer, but either way it's mine!!!!
but, what am i going to do with my 65' huge-butt projection screen i have now? It won't really fit in the basement...if it would get cable, I'd hitch it to a truck and drive with it to every tourney to watch baseball and Sports Illustrated Swimsuit/Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader shows during game breaks ;)

What!!!! The big box it came in said right on the side...."The centerpiece of your home." I did this for my family and our home. What do you take me for. I'm appalled. >:(

Thanks to everybody for their suggestions. I just got my new 61" 1080p HDTV wired up yesterday and the women in the house hate it while the men love it. The son says, "Man it's like looking out a window." The PS3 looks absolutely fanatstic. Call of Duty 4 looks photorealistic. I had some Netflix Blu-Ray disks and they are as advertised. Phenominal in 1080p.

The women said, "I don't see the big deal." They don't like the widescreen format and the fact that there are different aspect ratios and now you have choices and can zoom, stretch or manipulate the picture as you fit. They find it too complicated to keep track of the HD channels. They don't understand why there are regular channels and HD channels of the same channel. It may work out OK though because I moved the old 56 incher downstairs so maybe they will gravitate down there to revisit the simpler times and leave the new HDTV to ESPN, Guitar Hero, Madden and Call of Duty.

Congrats Ringer on the new TV! Why are women like that? Can anybody explain this? By the way, I told my wife that by next year this time we would not be able to use our tv because everything was going to be broadcast in HD and ours isn't HD. Guess who got a new Plasma?
