Looks like 1st team was heavily weighted in favor of Division 1 schools.

Add to the list of things I hate : Awards picked by what division school you play at. Maybe I should feel some comfort . Regional finalist Notre dame had zero girls make 1st , 2nd or even honorable mention all state .

I won't comment on who should have made what, but I want to just point out that postseason play is not accounted for in this voting.

One thing I don't like about the softball world is that sometimes postseason awards include posteseason and sometimes they don't. In about any normal voting in professional or high level college sports, awards don't include postseason play, but in softball we seem to be all over the board. If postseason play is going to be included, then we need to wait until everything is over to begin voting.

I strongly agree with waiting til the post season is over. (just got an email that stated his dd's final 4 team had ZERO players make all state )

I do not have a problem with teams that don't have players on all state teams. I believe a team can be much greater than the talent of its parts if taken individually. With all that being said and playing DIII anyone who has watched this girl pitch knows better. I am not talkig all state this is all Metro !!!!

Since this is a team sport and All-Metro is individual awards is it fair to take into consideration the post season? I could see a team that has all very good players but not any standouts going into post season from doing well as a team. I could see a standout being on a team with lessor talented girls who didn't make it into post season. I'm just not sure post season should be part of the individual award process.

I'm confused. Who picks all metro? I know all coaches meet and vote on state, district, and league. But, who selects all metro?

HS coaches do nominate their players and then the selections are made.

You would be surprised about how knowledgeable they are about the fastpitch community.

The team is position specific so you get a good spread of players, not just pitchers.

No I wouldn't be surprised considering how low the bar is. haha
Really, how many games do they see in a season? Bet they are voting on a lot of players they have never seen.

Another issue is that all players in the central district are not eligible for all-metro

That's not surprising as some on here believe no good softball is played below the DI level.
