Rob & Brian... Thanks for setting everything up...the schedule looks great! ?We are looking forward to having a great time...although, I think I'm getting a bit old to stay up all night...luckily it's the girls who will be doing all the running around.. ;D?

Thanks Corina. I think there will be enough time for the girls to grab a few winks through the night if needed.

Players might want to bring a sleeping bag with them and parents should consider bringing those summer chase(?) loungers and a blanket also so between games they can stretch out and grab a "Z" here and there for themselves. Players can bring their fuzzy slippers if they like for between games. Players are encouraged to mingle with players from the other teams as the night goes on. Hopefully a few new friends will be made this weekend, both players and parents. One big slumber party for the girls with some softball thrown in to make it fun. Ipods or cd players might be a must for parents between games also.

I am sorry I missed this tourney, it sounds like great fun. I had already put our girls in the Belleville tourney. I am sure players and parents will have a great time. I believe that Gateway is doing an exceptional job with the girls and that it is definitly going to be a positive and professional environment for many years to come for girls to go and have fun playing the game america has come to love. Great job Gateway and keep up the good work. Paul - Ohio Heat Fury 12u

The Fun Begins about 24 hours from now at Gateway. Please don't forget your Lawn Loungers if you would like to stretch out during the night.(You will want too I am sure.) Ipods, Robes, Slippers, Sleeping bags, and A blanket for the parents might be a must...LOL. The Concession stand will be open all night too. See everyone tomorrow night at Gateway. :)

Rob,
? Thanks for asking about our catcher.... her mother said she took some Ibuprophen and has been sleeping since they got home. ?She said it didn't look too bad, but they are going to have it checked tomorrow just in case. ?Thanks for the complement...she does have a rocket for an arm. ? :D
? We wanted to say thank you for the great time we had this weekend! ?All the teams.....players, coaches, and parents were wonderful. ?The girls had a lot of fun. ?
? Congratulations to the Valley Storm 12U for playing such a great tournament. ? They are an excellent 12U team (great young pitcher, #4), and they certainly gave us a run for our money!! ?Great coaches too and lots of good laughs in between innings. ?
? We'd also like to say GREAT job to the Cyclones and Sudden Death teams. ?Again, good games and great young ladies. ?Good luck to both teams during your summer tournaments! ?I know both the Cyclones and Sudden Death teams are new to travel ball, and they will definitely be teams to be reckoned with as the season progresses.
? ?A great big thanks to the ONE umpire who called every single game all night long! ?We thought he did a fine job. ?
? Not to take anything away from any of the great games played this weekend, I simply wanted to say that although both our team and the Cyclone team are 14U, it is only due to one older player on each of our teams. ?We are both younger 14U.
? ?Finally, thank you Brian for organizing this tournament. ?We look forward to seeing the new dome and fields next year.

Most sincerely....Corina, Urbana Lady Sparks

Sudden Death is a first year team with 8 of our players coming from slow pitch last year. Over the past six weeks we have seen so much from these young ladies playing at Gateway. Last night was the best performance yet from them. They are now staying in the box, swing their bats, and catching up to the ball. We want to say thanks for letting us be a part of this to help prepare these girls for the spring. They have learned alot so far.

Thanks
Chris

Chris,
Thanks for correcting the scores. You have a great bunch of girls. The improvement they have made just over the last few weeks has been amazing. Those girls play their heart out. We look forward to playing everyone this summer outdoors. The Ohio Cyclone team is also a very strong team with a great group of girls who will be tough this summer. Congrats again to the Urbana Lady sparks. (Beware of their catchers arm)...LOL ?:) Hope she heals up 100%

jdawg3 are you saying that the final score in the championship game was Sparks 11 and Storm 2 ? Just curious as to what you meant by that. It seems that there are a number of posts above with different scores listed. maybe gateway should have a tournament summary listed on thier website with the Official scores posted.

Looks like it was a nice tournamnent overall with basically two 13U teams and two decent 12U teams. Those 12U teams will get better playing better competition thats for sure.

I don't know that the scores are a big deal, especially with the difference in age groups. ?One would most likely expect for the older teams to come out on top. ?(Please know that I'm not taking away from our first game with the Valley Storm. That could easily have ended in their favor instead of a 1-1 tie.) ?For our team it was simply a chance to see some live pitching, ?get our pitchers some mound time, and let the girls play and bond as a group. ?Seems that many of our girls are involved in other things throughout the winter (J.O. volleyball, basketball, school clubs) and the "All Nighter" gave us a quicker, closer, cheaper way to get the girls together for some great games (as opposed to traveling up north to GFOD, Spano, or over to Indiana for an entire weekend). ?It was definitely fun, but man was I tired Sunday and all I did was walk back and forth across the field. ?;D ?
