SUDDEN DEATH SOFTBALL
is pleased to announce that its
3rd ANNUAL SDS SUMMER CLASSIC 2009
will be an
ALL SANCTIONED EVENT.​

Any sanctioned team is welcome to attend. The details are as following:​

July 17-19
4gg (2 pool, double elimination)
$400 entry fee
1 hour 30 minute time limit
10U, 12U, 14U & 16U
Lefferson Park, Middletown​

This tournament has been very successful and we feel that opening it up to all sanctions will only make it bigger and better. Teams are invited to use this as Nationals/ World Series tune-up.​

We will take as many teams as we can. In years past we have filled up with 6-8 teams in each divisions. New for 2009 we will use 2 separate parks in an effort to double the size of this event.​

For $400 in an unsanctioned/all-sanctioned tourney, can we get a 5GG instead? ;-) I know what the answer is... "just keep winning." haha.

Also, any idea of what the "prizes" will be since no berths are at stake?

The cost isn't effected by the sanction, it is to offset the 1 hour 30 min concept. To offer AT LEAST 4 FULL games. Only a select few will only get 4 games. As you said........ just keep winning!!

I must say a 90-minute minimum does sound nice when you have all these 75-minute games out there. I guess 1 win at least buys you an extra game in the Loser's bracket, right? haha. During FallBall we played all 75-minute games, and we had many 5-6 inning games. But wasn't the game meant to last 7 innings if the mercy rule didn't kick in?

In the 12 years I played baseball, never once did a game end due to time limits, though. Not sure the concept ever even existed back then.
