All State Voting SW Question

I understand the D2 coaches met Sunday for the SW District to vote for state and district honors. The Cincy area coaches showed up and voted for the girls they knew best, but a number of the Dayton area coaches no showed, including Alter and Carroll. No show, no vote. Cost at least one young lady a spot on the All State ticket, through no fault of her coach. Outside of online voting the only solution I see is to play more Cincy teams.

The solution is to get more coaches involved with actually showing up to the meetings and casting votes. Too many coaches do not care to take the time to go to these meetings if they do not have someone they are putting up themselves. They should go to support kids in thier leagues or local area.

What some may not know is, there is more to the process than just simply showing up to the meeting once a year to cast your vote. You must attend a certain number of meetings fufill some work detail and pay your dues. If someone on your coaching staff is not doing this then they cannot show up and vote.

Still comes down to more coaches willing to do the work so that girls can get recognized. Attending 2 meetings and completing 1 work requirement is not that immpossible to do. Especially when assistant coaches can help, as long as they are paid members.

It makes you wonder why they are there in the first place if they wont show up and support that athletes that stood out. Makes it tough on the coaches that try and make a difference

Another reason I have heard and have seen it first hand is "politics." If you put your kids up year after year and you can't get them the recognition they deserve, then sooner or later you give up. Why pay the money, help out with the district functions, to show up at the meeting, and go home with an Honorable Mention. It can be a very frustrating process.

The whole thing sounds about as fair as the seeding process.

This can also be the case at the conference level as well, although coaches do not have to pay, or attend meetings.
