Heat 95 went 2-2 with wins over Stingrays(Steele) 6-2 and Marion Merchants 8-1 and loses to Lasers Silver 3-1 and Stingrays(Steele) 3-2 play Steele again in the am. I think Doom 95 was the only team not to lose a game today but they were still playing when we left and winning.

Marion Merchants Black went 0-4, lost to Ohio Stingrays 11-1 and Cin.Doom 95 4-1 iLost to Ohio Stingrays again 8-4 and th Buckey Heat 95 8-1.Stiff competition, good luck to the remaining teams Sunday.

Stingrays (Caton) 13u's went 2-2 on the day ,2 wins over marion merchants and 2 tough defensive battles. Lost 1-0 to Stingrays (steele 14's) , just got shut down completely. Super pitching. Then lost 2-0 to the Lasers silver. Lasers silver were 2-0 in bracket play. I think they beat HOO Explosion 3-2 earlier . Bats have gotten slow with the 8 week layoff. MD

Buckeye Heat 95 is out. Stingrays Steele pressed us early, we had several errors, and momentum did its things on both teams. Final score, run-rule in 5 innings, 11-3. Good luck to Stingrays Steele for the rest of the day.
Cincy Doom won its match-up with the Lasers Silver, who were waiting to play the winner of Explosion/Stingrays Caton when we left.

Stingrays Steele got by Stingrays Caton , again in a low scoring defensive battle 2-1. Two games played between the 2 this weekend . total of 4 runs scored. Stingrays Caton got by a good HOO Explosion team 12-3. Explosion just had one of those innings that happens occasionally, everything went wrong. They look very solid .
So Lasers Silver were playing the 14u rays (steele) in the loser's bracket final , with the doom 95' waiting on the winner. The winners bracket final was something like 4-1 or 5-1 doom over lasers silver. Competetion was very good. Heather with the 14u rays has as good a command of her pitches as anyone I've witnessed , very intelligent pitcher.

slightly off topic --any opinions on the singing/dancing ump ? I can do without it, go to Vegas if you want to put on a show . Let the game be about the players. For those that missed it ---He came on the field singing some caribbean something, he calls his strikes Striiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiikkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkeeee actually about a 3-5 second long strike call . He hummed the "jeopardy tune" while our coach and batter huddled. anyone actually like it ? we only had the guy one time this weekend. ( at 1st I thought he might be drunk) MD

OK, so I had the brackets wrong and the Lasers Silver had to wait while the two winners in the losers brackets (Stingrays Steele and Stingrays Caton) played it off.

Had an ump that did the same thing in Zanesville.
At first we thought he was a little off the wall but the girls on both teams enjoyed it and had a lot of fun.
Would we want it every game....no way but the timing worked out well that day!
Both teams had a played a long day in the heat, under a lot of pressure and this seemed to take the weight off of their shoulders.

It was a blast to play the Lasers three times on Sunday, I'm pretty sure I know every girls name by heart now.

Outside of the final game, it sounds like the Lasers found a few bats at their tryouts--- maybe some better defense, too. It's going to be a very competitive division with all of those good 13U teams mixing it up with each other and with the 14s.
