I find it interesting that for pitchers that we haven't developed a number that would incorporate speed (MPH) and Revolutions (RPS). The ASA only lists speed criteria for pitchers. So a kid that can throw a curveball at 60MPH+ is in but maybe she only hits a 12 on the Revfire. Wouldn't the pitch be better if she threw only 58MPH and had a 25RPS? Maybe just add the two numbers...so that would give her a rating 83 while the speed baller only has a 72. Maybe it should be both numbers like 60/12 and 58/25

If its movement you need to be successful then the RPS has to come into the formula.

they list the minimum requirements to tryout only...........that doesn't mean you make the team. I'm sure that the RPS helps to make the decision for those throwing 60....

Just like the 2.95 H-1B - Prob lots of girls who run 3.1 who can hit a ball 250 all the time, they want the ones who can do it & run a little faster. That is just the minimums to get to tryout..........

How does an open tryout work when you have 17 spots available and have 24 individuals on your invite list?

Who is from Ohio besides Lilley? I saw earlier Alvelo was on the invite list but she is not on the roster list you posted. Only 6 of the 21 not yet in college.

How does an open tryout work when you have 17 spots available and have 24 individuals on your invite list?
Open tryouts worked for 4 players (i.e. Griggs, Halstead, Nickles and Romero) that made the team via the open try out. 95-100 players participated in the open tryout on Friday and 10 advanced to the 2-day selection camp.

1. C Jocelyn Alo (2017, OC Batbusters-Haning/Stith, Cal commit)
2. SS/UT Chelsea Seggern (2016, Texas Blaze Gold, Tennessee)
3. IF Savannah Hovath (fr., Cal State Northridge)
4. C Paige Halstead (2015, Explosion, UCLA)
5. SS Cassidy Boyle (fr., South Florida)
6. P/UT Madilyn Nickles (2016, All American Sports Academy, UCLA)
7. MIF Sydney Romero (2015, OC Batbusters-Haning/Stith, Oklahoma)
8. OF/SS Jessica Garcia (2015, All American Sports Academy, Oregon State)
9. OF Emily Griggs (fr., LSU)
10. P/1B Dallas McBride (fr., New Mexico State)

BTW, there were 27 invites - 20 initially and then an additional 7. 9 of the original invitees made the team along with 4 of the additional ones. All 3 alternates came from the original invitees, however Chelsea Whitcomb suffered a season-ending ACL injury on the last day.
