WAs just checking to see if anyone on OFC land will be at Candlelight Knolls next weekend for the highschool scrimmage day? This is a first year trip for us and we are hoping weather and field conditions will be good! Plus maybe gather some intel on teams that will be there since we will be well out of our district.

candlelight knolls is a very nice complex with 4 tarped fields with lights. they are opening the fields this weekend and with a couple sunny days should dry these fields out nice and allow them to tarp the fields for next weekend! If you pm me and let me know who you play i can give you an update.

Weather is supposed to be ridiculously cold. I hope not. We are scheduled to play at 7. If it is only a high of 34 I hope we don't play...that's a bit too cold especially once the sun goes down. :( Really hoping it isnt that cold.

Me thinks that team bats and players' practice bats will be seeing a lot of action this weekend. Don't forget handwarmers, especially you pitchers!

BTW, where is this Candlelight Knolls? Seems like I've seen references to more than one Candlelight Knolls facility.

I will be milling around working there in the afternoon. Hope to meet some fellow OFC'ers. I'll be the one with short flaming red hair with light orange/blonde highlights...

I must say, the fields were looking pretty good Sunday when they put the tarps on. All set and ready for action!

Well here is the recap from the games at Candlelite Knolls from this weekend…..

I want to thank all the HS Managers for being patient with the few HS cancellations and the morning dew that thawed around the 11:40 a.m. game that turn the solid infields to mud. The Valley Extreme organization and the Optimist Club turned the fields over, let the wind and the sun perform its job, and then rolled the fields and applied a few bags of oil dry and we were up and running for the 1:20 p.m. games. Unfortunate this minor delay played havoc with the HS busing schedules and some teams had to leave. Field #4 was playable at the 3:00 p.m. game, but the teams had to leave prior to the field being available for play.

We apologize to Salem, Crestwood, Champion, Mayfield, Newton Falls, and Mathews…..these schools did not get to play today and will receive a full refund. Over the weekend we did manage to play 12 HS scrimmages out of the 22 that were planned. We lost four games to the mud and the remaining were due to HS teams canceling.

So all in all it was a COLD weekend, but a GOOD one!!!!!!

Good Luck to all the young ladies, their coaches, and their respective HS programs.

Take Care

Thanks Valley for putting this on and the hard work you put into getting fields playable. It was cold, probably the coldest games our girls have ever played in, but they stuck it out and came away winning both our games! Good luck to all and have a great season!
