Applications for Invitationals

I agreed to fill the invitational application forms (Lasers, etc) for my DD's team and need help figuring out some info. When they ask for 2012 season record, are we required to include the team's summer 2012 record or only their record in the fall (after they put the current team together)? This is for a 12U team.

Any and all help is appreciated! Thanks in advance

Your Summer record. It is always helpful to include the fall record. Different organizations put different weight on the Fall record.

When loooking at the year's prior record, it could prove misleading. Most teams will have new players. Maybe the team moved up from 12 to 14? I have seen many teams be strong at 12, only to struggle as a first year 14 team. Different coaches? At the older age levels, when playing a heavy showcase schedule, many teams really are not playing to win.

I agree with Woolf but I'm sure these organizations are aware of the same things. I think it could have a lot to do with organizations. Team A has a slightly above average record with a pretty descent schedule. Never saw them play, but organization A always puts a quality team on the field. My team played in both Lasers and Stingrays last summer and there were not many "nomads" there. Most teams belonged to established organizations.

I think that historical strength of schedule trumps win-loss record. JMHO

These applications actually ask for your schedule and what your record was in each tourney you played in, so yeah, that's the main thing I think they are looking at ... how tough was your schedule, and then how well did you actually do. If you want to put in Fall, then do so if you think it will help. There's also usually a place to list other facts ... that's where I put in how many players are back and where our new players came from, so they can see that they played on quality teams the previous year.

If you can't dazzle them with brilliance then baffle them with bs.
But seriously, tell them what you feel are strengths of the team both summer and any new additions to the fall team.

coaching staff, schedule, results, team make-up, organizational history, and overall team trend are what I think adds up in decision making. Weight them how you like in your own mind but I'd these all matter. Probablly also matters on you did face-to-face with the host team.

That's my younger one. I think she will be signed by next Friday.
It was taken as a part of her grad pics.
Thanks
