4-10-2
An athlete forfeits amateur status, and thus interscholastic athletic eligibility, if any of the following
standards of amateurism are violated:
a) Competing for money or other remuneration. Allowable travel, meals and lodging expenses
may be accepted provided that these expenses are not conditioned on the individual?s or
team?s place finish or performance or given on an incentive basis. In addition, receipt of
expenses in excess of the same reasonable amount for permissible expenses given to all

individuals or team members involved in the competition is not permitted

I'd like to hear why it isn't a violation.

I have been trying to do the same for two years and was told by OHSAA it was illegal and NCAA said it was fine under their standards .. BUT under Ohio ( which they called a dinosaur) it wasn't.

I spent countless pizza and beer for law students to look this up and see what could be changed legally as OTHER states do this for teams.

Their suggestion was to take it into Federal Court and change OHSAA rules as the girls from Ohio are at a disadvantage to other state that ALLOW such prizes.

I think it is great that you want to do this .. I do ... but someone asked me about it and I suggested they call the person you have listed.

Quake, It sounds like since it is "travel bucks" and the "Team" will be winning and using the money then it is "Not" condioned on the "athlete" in general.

To be honest and not to condone any bad or illegal behavior, but who would police a TD or team who won a few hundred travel bucks during a summer travel tournament in Fairborn Ohio.

JMHO......I could be way off here but that is how I see it. ;&
