Why is this tournament being held a week later than it was scheduled. When I attended the ASA Bid meeting I was told at that meeting that ALL State Tournaments MUST be held on June 11,12,13, 2010 and ALL National Qualifiers MUST be held on June 25,26,27, 2010. They told us at the meeting if you plan to bid on any tournament they MUST be held on those weekends! So why is this tournament being held a week later?

There won't be ANY teams in Ohio that weekend. Most will be in Michigan attending Compuware or at the Lasers Tournament. Would you please explain why the date change for the 18U ASA STATE TOURNAMENT???

I hear ya Jamie. We will be at Compuware this weekend. Now looking to fill the weekend of the 6/11.

If it's any consolation, Warren did say there will be 4 other 18U ASA/USA qualifiers as follows:

6/25 - Massillon (this is yours)
7/2 - Cleveland area (maybe Strongsville?)
7/9 - Dayton
7/16 - R9 qualifier in Cincy

Have you heard the same?

Kirk:

I have a flyer that Warren sent on the Strongsville tourney, which says that it is an ASA/USA qualifier for all age groups.

Region 9 18u tournament in Cincinnati is June 11th -13th. Go to General Forum Section and look under CINCY ASA thread and the details are in the second post. Link: http://www.game-ex.com/vb3/showthread.php?t=22882

I just put this up personally to let teams know about the 18u State being moved. Glad it helped you.

The 18u State event was moved back for various reasons.

First, the bid was won by Butler County Convention and Visitors Bureau and the guy who put in the bid.. is now in Columbus Ohio at the CVB there. So it was left in that area and for that to be done, a different dates was needed. Thus, why the date for the 18u State is June 18-20th.

Region 9 16u in Cincinnati has been placed on the Stingrays event date in July (9th-11th)

Please don't shoot the messenger here. I just tried to be informative to the teams.

Wow. I would be pretty upset if I were an 18U team that had already paid money for Compuware or Lasers tournament and then they change the date of the State tournament. Maybe if the new Cincy guy could not do it the week it was schedule he should have released it to someone who could.

I think he went with that date because Region 9 18u National Qualifier is the weekend of June 11th - 13th in Cincinnati, Ohio at Rumpke Park.

But, I don't think it was ALL his decision to put it on that date though. Just my opinion.

Jamie, glad it helped.

My personal feeling why it might have been moved back a week is to accomadate the new Cincy Region JO and her quest for ball fields in SW Ohio that ASA could use as Region 9 events are moved North and South each other year and a date the didn't conflict with that Park she was using.

I believe ( and I am just guessing here) the thinking was the qualifer is STILL there on that date for the 18u teams so the teams don't lose out on the date itself.

The tournament in Cincy for the 18u group on June 11-13th IS NOT a CINCY METRO event, Storm.

It's a Region 9 event controlled by ASA Ohio State Director Warren Jones and the policy of ASA Ohio is to have the events (region 9 events) switch North and South each year. That's where we get it from Storm.

Again, as you so well think to say, it has NOTHING to do with the Cincy Metro. I don't think anyone said it did. But, being SW Ohio is not so overly blessed with ASA locations...... where would it make sense to play an 18u state tournament AND a Region 9 event on the same weekend just miles apart.

Once again, it is NOT a Cincy Metro event... It is a Region 9 event controlled by ASA Ohio. I don't see a Cincy Metro event in the 18u age group. But, I do see a Region 9 event...

I'll put dislike then. You pull your post...but the point is it has nothing to do with Cincy Metro like you said. Not one bit.

The Region 9.... in any age group... one year is in the North and one year in the South. Happens to be, the 18u is in the South.

Being Hamilton had the 18u State... I'm sure the only other place to put the Region 9 18u was in Cincinnati. I've never seen ASA in Clermont, Brown, Adams, Highland counties, etc, etc.... in Southern Ohio concerning girls events.

Obviously, the new JO for Cincy Metro isn't having a Cincy Metro 18u event only open to Metro Cincy teams.

She is holding a Region 9 Qualifier.. open to all Ohio teams.

Point is you are wrong and don't want to admit it.
