ASA and High School Rule Differences

I'm trying to get ready for the HS season and wonder if anyone can give me a quick summary of the rules differences.

I think that the HS DP/Flex rule is pretty much in line with ASA.

I have "heard" that pitchers can step back off the plate with their front foot before striding forward, which is not allowed in ASA.

I am interested in hearing interpretations of the obstruction rule as it relates to receiving throws at a base, including home.

What else should I watch out for?

PITCHING:
NFHS Rule 6-1-Art.2b: Once the hands are brought together and are in motion, the pitcher shall not take more than one step which must be forward, towards the batter ans simultaneous with the delivery. Any step backward shall begin before the hands come together. The step backward may end before or after the hands come together.

OBSTRUCTION:
NFHS 8-4-Art.3b: A fielder not in possession of the ball or not making an initial play on a batted ball, impedes the progress of a runner or batter-runner who is legally running bases. Obstructed runners are still required to touch all bases in proper order, or they could be called out on a proper appeal by the defensive team. Should an act of interference occur following any obstruction, enforcement of the interference penalty would have precedence.

If you are getting ready for H.S. you could see your AD or Coach for the NFHS Softball Rules, or you can order the Rule Book at www.nfhs.org
