The web site lists the following coaches who have already said they plan to attend:

Wright State University
Northern Kentucky University
Tiffin University
Youngstown State University
University of Rio Grande
Mount St. Joseph
Cedarville University
Lincoln Memorial University
Ashland University
Ursuline College
Moorhead State University
Shawnee State University

I wonder how Moorhead State and NKU will be at two places at one time?

Could be interesting.

I am very familiar with the Rising Stars, my DD was discovered by her Coach 2 summers ago while she was recruiting a opposing teams player, so its a very dear venue. I think its kinda funny how as soon as Mrs. Shotwell and her group leave the Gold Coast Hurricanes, they take off, 2007 3rd at Gold Nationals, 2008 National Champs and this summers team finished Runner Ups. I think its a big price to pay for something thats un proven.:lmao:

Please put Valley Extreme Blue 18U on your tournament list. Look forward to attending and maybe we can revisit the rivalry with Jim/Shawn's MVX team.

Hey Everyone

WE HAVE GOOD NEWS!!!

If you have not heard, we will now be offering 6 games to all teams in the Mid-West Signature Showcase.

As a FYI...generally, in the Fall, most showcase tournaments only offer 5 games because of time/field constraints. Usually it is impossible to give 6 games to all teams when you are only using half days or less on Fridays and Sundays to allow for travel time so teams don't miss too much school. And then in the summer, when school is not an issue, many showcase tournaments go to a 6 game, or more, guarantee.

But since we are at Berliner, the number of fields allows us to handle a schedule of 6 games for everyone.

We are very excited that we can do this, because it will make this an even better recruiting opportunity for the teams and the college coaches. Hope to see you there!!

If any team is interested in a player to pick up, my dd would love to participate. Plays centerfield primarily, but is skilled in other positions. She is trained in being a leadoff batter, and has an arsenal of batting skills - bunting, slapping, dragging, and hitting for power. Sub 2.8 home to first. Always a threat on the bases.

PM me if anyone is interested.

Thanks

at first i laughed when i read the post from contrlfk...is she kidding me?? but then it made me mad. patti is a really nice person who really cares about the girls, and i think this tournament is going to be good, and will only get better year after year. cyd is slyly trying to sabotage a good thing for ohio. dont be misled by her. it is a very sad and pathetic attempt. she is lying through her teeth about patti when she says that patti did not do anything significant with rising stars. My team used to go to rising stars every year. no matter what lies cyd says there are a lot of people (college coaches, teams, ex-players and their parents) who know that patti was the driving force behind rising stars. it may have originally been their idea to start it but without patti it never would have become what is was when it was good. she was the one that grew it. she was the td for every single rs from the very first one until she left a few years ago. she got the teams and the college coaches to come. she did everything...the scheduling, the showcase book and the website, and she was always at the park, rain or shine. quite a significant contribution i would say. the rising stars was the best when patti ran it. anyone who tries to deny that is outright lying. cyd is just trying to discredit patti for her own personal agenda. she thinks that no one is going to contradict her and post the truth. i think she is mad that patti left and she is trying to sabotage anything she does. dont be fooled by her. i would believe patti over cyd any day.

Got an email from Patti the other day responding to a question that I had earlier emailed to her. For the 14U tournament, an ASA Eastern National berth will be awarded to the winner.

Buckeye Heat 95 plans to be there for the 14U tourney.

This is Harold Kumar. My daughter played on a Team last January that fell for the "advertising" of signature showcase tournaments, that seem to be running one in your neighborhood.

My daughter's coach bought into the hype that Patti had been involved in The Rising Stars Showcase Tournaments. Rising Stars has a pretty decent record of bringing in a number of college coaches to their events.

There ended up being a total of 7 teams... all local and 2 of the 7 teams were patti's own teams from her organization. There was a grand total of 2 colleges that made any appearance at all.

Keep in mind, she ran this tournament in the same county directly against Rising Stars (the same weekend). Why would you want to do that?

WHAT IS IT ABOUT???? IT IS ABOUT THE CHILDREN GETTING THEIR SHOT AT OPPORTUNITY? OR IS IT ABOUT PUTTING MONEY IN YOUR OWN POCKET OR "PUNISHING" THE COMPETITION?

AT WHAT POINT AND TIME DO YOU BECOME HONEST ABOUT THE PRODUCT YOU ARE OFFERING!!!

Sincerely yours,
Harold Kumar, CMS

Dear Poisenpill,

I am quite certain that is not the name listed on your birth certificate.

I am not afraid to attach my name to my opinions.

My "track record" speaks for itself... I am proud to be connected to Tournaments that help young ladies achieve their dreams of playing at the next level. I am proud to be connected to Teams that have won Gold Nationals in 2008, runner -up in 2009, and 3rd in 2007. Our 16 Under team came in top 20 in the past 2 years at ASA Nationals.

Why would I care to sabotage patti's efforts to move on with her life?

Please compare her "track record" to mine and be realistic.

Patti "quit & abandoned" Rising Stars over 3 years ago in the middle of a Tournament. This is the first you have heard about it and you can see it didn't have any significant effect.

I am available for discussion should you wish to unveil yourself...........

Congrats on ALL your achievements. But unless you are planning on coming to OHIO and running a SHOWCASE EVENT then thanks for your input, but now its time to start getting ready for Fall softball in Ohio.

Miami Valley Xpress is a great organization here in Ohio. They along with Signature Showcase are putting on this event which now will have 6 games for $600 or $100/game which is the "GOING RATE" for other showcases. Might be pricey for a first year event and only time will tell.

As for signing posts. I sign almost everyone of my posts ( over 350 ). I started doing this 4 years ago. No like the JJ Huddle site. I believe I was one of the first on here to do it.

Thanks

I have tried very hard not to reply to all the trash talk that is coming from SID oops Cyd Weiner about Patti but it is getting out of hand so i guess it just can't be done.
Patti and I both appreciate those that have said positive things and for those that have other opinions it's ok. but all the real trash talk is coming from one person (sid/cyd).
I ask you all to please not let her destroy something that will be an upbeat and fun time for your teams.
You can tell by the quotes that are negative that they are from florida!!! do you think that people from florida are just coming to an ohio web site for reading enjoyment or do you think they are specifically targeting Patti/Signature Showcase after some encouragement.
Lets not be fooled by this person!!!
I hope that all this trash talk stops and I'm tired of hearing people preach "ITS ABOUT THE CHILDREN" while they are trying to end opportunities for them. If you believe that then start acting like ADULTS.
We will continue to put on tournaments and have fun doing it.
Just an update we are receiving team entries almost daily and will be posting the teams names.
For those that choose to come you will see who is truthful and who is not.
Even if your team is not playing please come by and say hello and meet us. WE ARE ALWAYS looking for some good input that can make our tournaments better.

I am a frequent visitor to these Forums. I am with the Ohio Ice. Alot of you have known me for years. I usually dont get involved, but when 2 parties from Florida are arguing about Who started this and Who started that, I think its ridicoulas. Hello, this is a OHIO website. I am sure we all know who the Gold Coast Hurricanes are, not sure who Patsho or Bklyn are, and personally dont care. But I am sure there is a website in Florida that this stuff could be read on. I see Contrlfk7's point, dont be name dropping. It is definetly time where we get our own Showcase, but not really sure I would want an outsider running mines. We here at the Ohio Ice put on a great Indoor Winter Tournament in freezing weather, I am sure we have enough Great Minds that can figure it out. Lets not forget, Florida is the reason we had George W for another term, they cant even get the Voting thing right. I say NO to outsiders.

I am glad the Xpress and this group has put this together.
After being there (Rising Stars) last year we found the tournament to be good, but we had our problems with rain, games being rescheduled at last minute and poor communication that made it hard for college coaches know where we playing . This also happened the prior year also, actually they got less games than we did. There was a lot of southern colleges there, but unless girls want to go south ?? This Midwest will draw more colleges from the "Midwest", we are blessed that it will be close in Columbus, making it easier travel for us and coaches from the midwest (compared to southern florida). Yes I do realize we could have rain too ! and or cold weather, **snow** I know, NO- please.
Again I applaud what they are doing, I dont know Patti nor do I know Cyd, sounds like there was bridges burn't along the way with them. Time to grow up folks, let's see how this goes and stop putting people down. It's not like this is in your back yard.
Good Luck to all involved with this Showcase, we'll see you there.

Michele Smith has asked us to help get the word out about her charity event in Florida. I know it might be far, and it is last minute, but maybe some teams or individual players might be interested.

Olympian Michele Smith is offering an individuals Skills Camp, Recruiting Seminar, and Showcase Tournament in St Petersburg Florida on September 18-20. The proceeds from these events benefit her "Softball for Hearts" charity which is a favorite of college coaches and Olympic players.

Starting on Friday afternoon, the Skills Assessment & Recruiting Camp will be well attended by college coaches. Sessions are offered for hitting, pitching, catching and fielding. Sessions are $25 each, and are limited to only 25 players per session.

The excitement continues on Friday night with the Recruiting Seminar and Reception that includes a college coach panel discussion, as well as a buffet and silent auction. Registration is only $25 per person. Families welcome.

Then, for teams, on September 19-20, there is a showcase tournament for 16s & 18s, and a regular tournament for other age groups. Both offer pool and elimination play.

For more information, go to www.fastpitchheadquarters.com and use the "Michele Smith Fastpitch" logo link on the right side. You will also be able to register online or you can print registration forms for mail in.

Join in on the fun and help Michelle help others while you further your dreams of playing softball in college!

Hurry! Space is limited.
