Has anyone attended a Triple Crown Sports Nationals tournament?
If so, please provide your feedback.
Pros - Cons compared to ASA

This summer .... ASA Eastern Region (Salem, VA) vs TCS Nationals (Myrtle Beach, SC)

I assume you are talking about 14u (since you mentioned Myrtle Beach)....i cannot offer you any opinions on the Nationals in Myrtle Beach but here is the deal, once you play any tournament with Triple Crown- and do well, you will have an easier time at the older age groups to get into their more coveted tournaments like Colorado Sparkler, Rising Stars etc. Same goes for PGF.

Honestly I do not know anyone that has played in a Triple Crown Nationals. I think I am right about the Sparkler - but don't they take all commers? I know the other Colorado events are more selective - not sure about the Sparkler though. I know I am right about the Rising Stars - they do take anyone that applies. It is a family business and it funds the Gold Coast Hurricanes Gold. They have even begun taking 14's. Rising Stars and T.C. are now tied together somehow. Not sure if R.S. partnered in or bought them out - rumors......

interesting flarays....thought both of those events were billed as showcase/application events....I knew the Gold Coast Hurricanes were associated but i was always under the impression that the showcase 16u was more selective.

We went to the Myrtle Beach TCS/Rising Stars as an 18u team in 2011. Some of he fields were nice, although the pitching plate was a couple feet in front of 1st & 3rd (40ft) but the teams there weren't what you would want to play at a 'National' tournament. Only saw 2-3 college coaches the entire time we were there.

No not at all. Enter and you are in!! Now getting to play where the college coaches are is definately where the selection process comes into play. Marty and Sid have done a nice job of building a "franchise" for the family. Year in and year out Marty's team is among the best in the country.

Sparkler does take all comers. Fireworks is very selective and Boulder Independence Day is extremely selective. The Louisville section of the Independence Day is selective, more similar to Fireworks.

Hey Joe, do you know if the Fireworks tournament that you are referring to is now called (for 2012) the Freedom tournament in Broomfield for 14u and Boulder IDT for 16's and 18's?

The Boulder Independence Day at 16s and 18s is an entirely different tournament than Fireworks. Boulder will have the OC Batbusters, Corona Angels and most of the other top 64 teams in the country. Some of the top 64 will go to Fireworks, but Boulder will look like what ASA Gold used to look like, or what PGF/Premier now looks like. Fireworks has always held its 14-U section in Broomfield, so I imagine the Freedom tournament is part of Fireworks. Triple Crown runs Fireworks now, so if Freedom is associated with that, then it must be the same.
