Awards Scam

Just like some reaction to my DD's story about how her conference hands out awards. She is graduating this year so part of me says move on and put it away but here goes:

Our team plays in a division of a conference where we play each division member twice and the upper division once. We have had one particular school who is a rival out of the 5 teams that make up the division. When my DD was a soph our rival won the division and their player was division mvp and their coach was coach of the year. In my DD's junior year our team went undefeated in the division and my DD was our team's MVP offensively and as pitcher. That year for some reason our rival came in third but again their player won MVP of the division and their coach was again player of the year. This year we tied due to record with the upper division as our team again went undefeated inthe division and again beating our rival twice. Again my DD was our team's MVP. She is also all district and hon mention all state. But again our coach and my DD is shut out again. Part of it this year is our rival's coach did not fulfill the requirements to attend the voting for all state honors which put more pressure on him. Is thsi the way these awards go in other conferences? Am I missing something?

Just from the information it would be hard to draw a conclusion.

example: A pitcher could win every game and still not be as good as a pitcher that lost a few. If the undefeated pitcher plays for a team that scores a bunch of runs her W-L might be better but not ERA strikeouts etc.

As far as coaching, a coach that wins with superior talent vs a coach that get the most out of is team and wins games even when they are not the best team on the field. Which is the better coach?

That being said sometimes Politics enters into voting. Not always does the best or more deserving player get the award. Another issue is that a player can win All district, etc. but for all conference only conference games count. I have seen batting averages in and out of conference vary by over .100 points so a player may be .300 in conference and over .400 overall. That is common in good conferences when a team plays lesser non-conference games.
