Hitting and Hitters Discussion Bad thing?

Okay, yesterday, I'll admit it, I was being a little annoying, but I was SUPER bored. I figured I haven't been hitting well lately so I'd take out my bat and swing. Is that a bad thing? My mom kept yelling at me to put my bat away! I just want to know if it was a good idea, and maybe if someone can back me up on this!

Remember the old saying "practice makes perfect"? Well, it was a lie. Practice makes permanent and if your not mechanically sound you only re-enforcing what you're doing wrong. Work with someone to straighten-out your mechanics and then swing away. I have my DD do 100 swings a day during the season using a drill called "9 Windows". I also have a 34oz bat that she does them with when she in the mood to work extra hard. Does wonders, but you have to be sure you're mechanically sound first. Good Luck and Good Hitting.

I think it was great that you were practicing, but The3dm has a point. ?If your mechanics were wrong you could be hurting yourself. ?It isn't permanant... it will just be a hard habit to break. ?I would encourage you to keep up the hard work, and practice all you can ?;)
