Hitting and Hitters Discussion Ball on a Rope Drill ????

Has anyone heard of or used this drill..... Where you drill a hole in a softball tie a 12 foot rope on it and swing around for practice???? I tried it at last practice and the ladies seemed to like it but I wanted to get some feed back on positives and negative of drill. Thanks

I've seen several teams use it, but I haven't. My personal opinion, good for tracking the ball, and the ability to move the location around. Negatives, whoever is swing the rope is going to be dead after a couple batters.

Used it last year, just you have to have some room to use it. My only concern was someone walking into the ball. Better than the hit away, as you can move the ball up and down.

I used to do this with my 10u rec teams along time ago. It seemed to work well for tracking the ball but ya better be careful as they get older they hit harder..lol ...Basically the same thing as the Hit Away only you can control high or low better.

I don't recomend it either...front toss makes more sense as tracking the ball is head on. You are also correct the person swinging the rope must be consistant and BRAVE!

I used it with a young team and liked it. The girls enjoyed it and it let me see thier swings from the side and make corrections. It will wear your arm out.

Used in the past with a 10u team, seemed effective for tracking. But as Valley stated, as they get older and hit it harder, its rough on the one swinging the ball

Buy a Hit-N-Stick, same idea, with less of a workout for the one swinging the rope.

Thanks All, I found out the HARD way you need some good gloves as for getting tired my arm was a little sore but that was OK

I used this for years, first time out the girls didn't like it. Then they started hitting the ball better. they got so good they could hit right handed then turn around and hit left.
Your right about the arm going dead!
Went out and bought a hit-a-way with a stand. Now I can work on other things while the girls can use the hit-a-way by themself.
