WICHITA, Kan. – The Friends University Falcons continued their winning ways with two victories today (Feb. 29) to complete a three-game series sweep of the Kansas Wesleyan University Coyotes at Westside Athletic Field. The Falcons have now won nine straight games, their longest winning streak since opening the 2015 season with nine wins. With the three victories this weekend, head coach Adam Neisius is now just three wins shy of 500 for his career.

Ricky Hockett (JR/Plainville, Kan. ) turned in the first of two quality starts on the mound for the Falcons, going five innings and striking out a career-best 10 batters while walking just two with one run allowed.

Jacob Coogan (SO/Broomfield, Colo.) followed Hockett and gave up a run with a pair of strikeouts over the next two innings before Austin Eggleston (SR/Arlington, Texas) blanked the Coyotes in the eighth and ninth with four strikeouts for his fourth save of the season.

The Coyotes got on the board in the first inning, but the Falcons got all the offense they would need with three in the second, keyed by a two-run single by Lucas Quimby (SR/Pueblo, Colo. ).

It was then De Los Santos's turn in the nightcap to shine for the Falcons. After giving up four unearned runs in the first inning, De Los Santos settled in and pitched a gem that was highlighted by fanning the side over the final two frames to finish with a career-best 13 strikeouts.

Following the Coyotes' four-run first, the Falcons responded with four of their own in the bottom of the inning, getting an RBI double by Andrew Chartrand (SR/Monroe, Wash. ) and run-scoring singles by Wes Kuzminsky (JR/Salkum, Wash. ), Hockett and Isiah Perez (JR/Larned, Kan. ).

The scored stayed 4-4 until the Falcons broke through with another four-run inning in the fifth. Ricardo Paris (SR/Barquisimeto, Valenzuela) led off with a single and scored the go-ahead run on an RBI single by Kuzminsky. After an infield hit by Pryce Anderson (SO/Coffeyville, Kan.) plated Troy Puga (SR/Pueblo, Colo.), Perez delivered a two-run single to cap the frame for the Falcons.

"Pitching was outstanding today, Hockett and De Los Santos gave us quality starts," Neisius said."

"We strike out 29 hitters in 16 innings, everyone on the mound did a great job. Our hitters gave us competitive at-bats all day and we did a much better job of hitting with runners in scoring position. We had a couple hiccups defensively we can get cleaned up for next Tuesday."

Paris had three hits in four at-bats in the nightcap for the Falcons, with Kuzminsky and Perez each delivering two hits.

Dalton Bishop and Timothy Storms each had two hits in the second game for the Coyotes (8-8, 0-3 KCAC).

The Falcons, now 14-8 overall and a perfect 4-0 in the KCAC, will next play at Southwestern College Tuesday evening (Mar. 3) at 6 pm in Wellington, Kan.
