Does anyone know where some batting cages around Mansfield area? We are about 45 minutes north of Columbus and its tough to run my daughter down there to a cage during the week. We have one thats pretty local but its broken down often. But we are open to any if you know where some are. I went past a place in Lexington called Lightning (something) next to the park but I can not find out any information about it. Thanks in advance.

I live in Columbus, but work in Lexington. I'm sure the batting cages I drive past every day must be the same ones you saw- unless there is more than one batting cage in town. They're on East Main Street (Rt. 42/97), outdoor cages with a go cart track and sports bar (Buck's) in the same complex. I've never been in there to try them out, so can't really give you a first hand review of how good they are. But they are there!

Ah yes I remember those at Bucks. I am not sure how those are but I will check them out. I was talking about the indoor building called lightning sports academy or something like that. Its located pretty close to the ball parks on Plymouth St.

That's one part of town I haven't had a chance to check out yet. Maybe I'll swing by there on my lunch hour sometime.

Lightning only has one pitching machine, and odd hours. Bucks has three fastpitch cages. Have you checked out Marc Wilkins baseball Academy?

Swing Away in Mt Vernon has batting cages. Just south of town on 13.

Aren't there cages right beside Highland Pizza in Sparta?

Hmm I think there is some cages near Highland. I go past there often and will check it out. I live about 15 minutes from there so that would be nice if they still are there. I will try the IN Field for sure. As far as Swing Away they seem to always be broken when we go. They often only have 1-2 softball ones working (slow pitch and slower fast pitch)and last couple times they were all broke down, even the baseball.

I don't think the outdoor Highland ones are running but I have not paid attention lately.

We have had better luck than you at Swing Away. Maybe try calling Ed there before you go -- I'm sure he would give you a good price on an open bay with an L-screen if the cages are broke.

Marc Wilkins in Mansfield is an option -- they are located west of Mansfield close to where 314 connects to Route 30. Wilkins is more of a lessons facility than batting cage facility though.

There is also a facility in Newark but that might be a little far for you.

Stick with it.

We live in Lexington and we go to Lighting Baseball Acadamy 419 884 3797 in Lex for something local. There is also Marc Wilkins out past Ontario 419 683-4100 and Swing Away in Mt. Vernon 740 397 bats.

There is an outdoor cage at the Lexington park if you want to pitch to your son/daughter and there are cages at the Infield but I don't recommend them. The machines are too slow.

To get to Lightning, you have to go down a long drive and go in the back of the building.

Thank you softballmom009. We are interested in the Lightning Acadamy. Is there just a walk in anytime and token operated? Lexington is no farther than Mt Vernon is for us since Swing Away is on the south end of town.
