Hitting and Hitters Discussion Batting Helmets

Im looking at purchasing new batting helmets for the girls (12u) and thought I would send out a post to get some feedback on ones your daughters like and/or dislike.

Currently we have the Worth Liberty away, Royal Blue and White. It's a good looking helmet but the negatives I have is that the paint scratches pretty easy after a few times being left on the ground and kids with smaller heads need the optional earpiece cushion that you can buy to make it tighter.

I'm looking at the Rip It Helmet and Boombah has a new helmet that is Matte Black. What are your thoughts on these two or any other ones that you would recommend?

The Rip It is the best helmet by far. The head padding is completely covered by fabric, so no wearing or completely tearing off of the pad like Worth does. Also the colors are injection molded. No paint chipping.

You have any idea where you could get a deal on them

we use wilson the one now, its amazing and adjustable and they sell decalls to design the helmet to your team colors. Avalable in white and black. By far out of all the team helmets I have purchased they are the most flexible in sizing.

Rip It helmets - by far are better than Wilson and Schutt. DD likes this helmet by far. You can get a $10 off coupon with any dick's sporting goods purchase - so that might be your best bet. They fit snug too - believe they have some form of memory foam in the padding.

My DD didn't like the Wilson helmet at all. Complained about the padding and the mask blocked her vision a bit.

For us-
Schutt-poor fitting and cheap.
Worth-fit well and good quality
Mizuno-fit well and good quality

Call Direct Sports and ask for the team discount on the Rip-It helmets, will get them for $44 each, no minimum. They are the best helmet I've seen lately. The One by Wilson is pretty solid also, at least in terms of fit and comfort. But the Rip-It has fit/comfort and superior vision.

Just purchased Rip It Vision for my DD. She really likes the snug but comfortable fit you get with the memory foam. Lightweight. Excellent vision profile.

Just verifyed that price of $36 at Dumonts...Spoke with Mike there and he's great guy. Obviously doing it the right way as he isn't looking for just the one sale...pricing items right for teams in order to get more business. He has my business!

Is he shipping you for that or are you local enough to go pick it up?

I'm out of Columbus and have family up in Akron so will be picking it up. I would think the price is more to ship if its out of his current inventory.

Our girls love the Rip It we use. It has held up well after a year and fits the best and is the most comfortable. Whatever price it is, I think it's worth it.
