Just a word of advice that we would all do well to heed. When talking with someone involved in the travel softball world, keep in mind that you have no idea who that person does or does not know, who they talk to on a regular basis, who they are related to, who they are friends with... Also, do not assume that since they live in one area, that they do not know or speak to people in other areas.

Failing to heed this advice could result in a severe case of foot-in-mouth disease.

That disease runs rampant in the red solo cup division of select ball. I think it has something to do with the alcohol mixed with the plastic in the cup. It must leech out toxins that effect the decision making portion of the brain. Particularly the part of the brain that controls the mouth.

Like when you bring your daughter's grandmother to a game, and as we're sitting in "uni-team" bleachers behind home plate, she watches the opposing team's pitcher put three in the dirt, then, too loudly proclaims "She's not very good, Is she?" I was looking for an empty Gatorade bottle to crawl under...

You can't always assume that everyone at a game is on your side.

You aren't kidding Crystlemc!! You never know who you are talking to and who they know so never start your conversations with who does and who doesn't sukk. Like Jennatyui said, it's a very small world and word travels quickly.

What I find the most funny aspect is that the parents and players think that the coaches do not talk.

We had a girl commit to a team for next year 2 weeks before our season ended (no big deal).

We know this because the coach she committed to called us to ask questions about the player and wanted to know why we had not sewn her up so to speak.

My wife talks to all of the other coaches all the time.........they compare notes and ideas. Not sure why people think that the coaches do not speak. They may be in competition but that does not mean they do not talk.
