I observed the 14u maddog/valley extreme championship game at poland today. Saw a left handed catcher for the maddogs, who I watched earlier in previous games. I was pretty impressed with her ability. Have never seen a left handed catcher before.

Lindsey Harrison catcher on the 14u valley extreme was 9 for 9 on throw outs this weekend and hit 3 out of the park. Couldn't ask for much more!! Good job Pudge.

I saw that left handed catcher from the maddogs as well, she was like a real "general" out there. The maddogs are kind of famous for there catchers this one is a gem. what high school is she from?

The left handed catcher from the Maddogs is only in the 8th grade this year. She will be freshman next year at Perry. Her name is Maria Tayse

Tawna Garver-16U
Freshmen at Hillsdale and plays for GFOD Thunder. Very solid behind the plate and should only get better. Has a lot of pop in her bat, had Hillsdale only 2 hits the other night in regional final against Genoas ace pitcher.

Now that the season is over I can answer this post. I hate to say best catcher or best whatever because there is always someone better and these ladies listed still need to continue to improve but I would have to say out of the 9 or 10 tourney's I was at I saw one catcher that truly stoodout from all the rest. Don't know her name, high school, but she played for Polar Edge and wore #2. Not one thing stoodout, she was the best all around catcher I saw.

Best 16U Catcher IMHO is Bessie Artino(Bellevue) LASER Blue. She had a great summer season throwing out right around 90% of the runners, most times by 2-3 steps before they could even start their slide!! Very powerful hitter, along with hitting for a great average.
We nicknamed her "The Rifleman".lol

I forgot to mention this young lady played 16u. No I didn't get the chance to see any 12u games this year.

I'd throw this girls hat in the ring... Kate Ferree from Valley Extreme 16U Red. She'll be a junior this year at Austintown Fitch. Good head and intimidating behind the plate, big bat (cleanup hitter), smart and fast on the bases and a rocket for an arm. Also plays a great 3rd base.

Lainee Clay, 14U, for the West Virginia Dusters. She is from the Portsmouth, OH area. Strong arm, consistent glove, a good knowledge of the game. Can hit for power and not afraid to sacrifice. Did the brunt of the work for the dusters. Her team finished 7th @ NSA in Columbus.

The catcher from Laser's Gold 18U. She is 16 and catches for Wheelersburg High School. Great team leader and all around team player an excellent choice for any age group.

In 12u, I saw a girl from the Tidalwaves. Very good player, but then went out with a shoulder injury from a foul tip. Also the girl from Valley Extreme 12u red. Strong arm.

I am "slightly" biased ?;D but I'll give my nod at 12U to the Lil Slammers catcher.
