I'm surprised nobody has mentioned Kelly Benhase from Glen Este, who will make Glen Este an immediate winner again this spring. Benhase was dominant last year, and I think she was just a freshman.

you are so correct Chip Gregg at NKU gives her pitching lessons and I have had a chance to see her pitch several times VERY IMPRESSIVE.

I thought by mentioning G.E.H.S. everyone knew why they would be good. Besides I always misspell Kelly's last name. This is a great kid and pitcher. She should have a great season, I know she is working hard!

GE does have good pitching, but they will not be one dimensional. I expect more offense this year as the strong core of freshman from two years ago are now juniors and last year's hard hitting freshman class is another year older. Defense will be solid, they are very well coached and no team will work harder.

I wish East Central had room to play GE that would be fun
We have 1 senior 1 soph and a bunch of juniors
maybe we will have a team change their mind,it has happened

Very well said...Hey John you have the inside connection on the Glen Este side. Darin you on the East Central side. I think you guys get together and try and put a scrimmage together!!

Edgewood went to the District finals before losing to Mason last season. They have most of their players returning plus an excellent Freshman Class coming in. Sara Pierson is returning to pitch as she's only a sophomore.

FYI I just looked at our high school schedule we (EAST CENTRAL) play Edgewood on 4/7 should be fun

That's what I questioned in an earlier post. Is Benhase coming back for certain? What about Cox and Gregory?

Len,

What would Benhase be doing if she didn't "come back," go pro? haha. I'm not really sure what you meant. Is there question as to whether she is playing softball or something?

I'm sure she'll play in the summer. Rumors fly around sometimes. I hear the rumors second hand so I don't put much credit in it but you never know. I sure hope she and the others play though. If all three are there plus Kelsey Vita, they will have strong pitching at both JV and Varsity. If I am forgetting other pitchers please accept my apoligies in advance.

Hmm, looks like some drama going on in the East side. haha. I do hope GEHS has a strong team coming back, b/c that will only push the other local/FAVC teams that much harder to kick up their games a bit. I personally am a Turpin HS supporter (married a Spartan woman - haha), and I like what I am seeing from them this winter... great turnout for their voluntary open gyms. It will be a fun season for sure.

There is no drama at Glen Este...
GEHS has several very good softball players including Kelly, that are working hard to improve their skills, combined with the leadership, GEHS will be the quality team other quality teams will want to play.
GO TROJANS!

Whats the chance that we (Green High School) could get any of these teams to scrimmage us if we made the trip to Cincy? They all sound like they'd be a nice test for any team!

Seton, St. Ursula, Mercy, and MND will all have quality programs from the GGCL Scarlet.

crosley

check that... better than quality. they should have very good programs. MND runruled Turpin last year toward the end of the season and beat Milford in the second round of sectionals. Then lose to Hamilton 3-2 in 10 innings. They return a large number of key players including both pitchers. Seton returns a ton of players and features one of the top players in the city in Schramm. Mercy does have what I believe to be the top player in the city with Leonard while adding a very good freshman pitcher in Anna Eggleston. St. Ursula, the two time defending GGCL champion still has a super pitcher in Megan Flenniken who pitches for a Lasers team I believe.

I think the GGCL will give the GMC a run this year. Any of those four teams can beat any of the top teams in the city. 4th. Place Mercy last year beat the mighty Colerain Cardinals.
St. Ursula loses two very close games to GE last year.

The private schools will compete nicely this year in Cincinnati H.S. softball

Leonard is fabulous and will be a player to watch for many years. Being a sophomore is even more amazing!!
