We have a pretty experienced 16u Team coming back in 2010. Would like to give the girls the best opportunities to be noticed in 2010. What are the best Showcases you have been part of within reasonable distance to Ohio?

Great topic for 16u teams, had brought it up about a month ago also.

We want to do all showcases next year as well, and I am trying to do our schedule now but I cannot remember some of the actual names of the tournaments or dates?? Some are obvious like Compuware & Stingrays.

Would it be possible on the tournament listings to be able to see the older tournaments from early in 2009 for planning (approximately) for 2010??? ... Please? .... Right now it looks like the sidewalk rolled up behind us .....

The ones we are targeting for next year are:

Fall 16u Akron Slam Series (Akron - this September 25-27) ... will this attract college coaches??

Akron Zips 9v9 Team Camp (Akron - this Oct 3-4) ... any comments from past attendees?

Toledo Tune-up Showcase (Toledo) ... never attended, not sure exact name & dates, but remember there was a showcase component - any comments on this one, anybody??

MC Madness Showcase (Cleveland) - did not attend this year, planning to in 2010 if it is going again ... how was "exposure" part? Anybody? (Is feistymom speaking with any of you again yet?)

Compuware (Canton/Detroit area) - well know and understood

GAPSS (Columbue) - well known & understood (well attended by colleges this past year??)

Stingrays (Columbus) - nothing need be said

Orland Park Sparks Invitational (Chicago) - looking to attend this next year. How do you get in though? Apply, sell your team, and hope for the best? Spoke with the TD recently, and he said they will not work on this one for a while, at least until after they finish their Fall Showcase in October.

VERY interested to get feedback on the above from anyone with experience & strong opinions, as well as learn of other Showcases in Ohio that college coaches like to attend!!

Here is the link to the NFCA.org (Nat'l Fastpitch Coaches Assoc) page that shows (now past) 2009 events that include:
Pennsybury (Eastern PA), Sparkler (Colorado), Fireworks (Colorado), Fastpitch Classic (Toledo), and Elite Showcase (Texas):
http://nfca.org/camps/administered/

www.nfca.org also offers other helpful info re college fastpitch in user-friendly format (lots of links).

Great Suggestions. Thank you to everyone that has made suggestions. Any ideas on whom to contact from the Stingrays Showcase? Are letters of recomendation a good idea? What is the best route to take?

Thanks

Mike

The Orland Sparks had a ton of coaches (there were a lot of Ohio colleges there to), plenty of games and great competition. Highly recommend it. I do not recommend the $150 Under Armor camp held the day before, very very few college coaches and its a cluster save your money.

I heard very good things about the college showcase aspect of the Toledo Tune-up its one of the best run tournaments I have been to, so I have no doubt the showcase portion of the tournament is ran very well to.

Also heard very good things about the NFCA camp this year being held during the Toledo Fastpitch Classic. Normally due to the dates of this tournament the field is very strong, the addition of the NFCA camp made the tournament stronger and brought in more coaches.

GAPPS is a great tournament, but we have played in it twice and I haven't seen that many coaches.

Stingrays brought in a ton of coaches.
