The Lady Charmers and the Diamond Dominators are proud to announce that Bill Hillhouse, one of the nation's best pitching instructors, is coming to Dayton. We will be offering lessons from 9:00 A:M to 5:00 P:M on Sunday, Nov. 16, 2008. Our event will be held at Vandalia Butler High School in the multi-purpose room. The cost will be $35.00 per hour with $30.00 going to Bill and $5.00 going towards gym rental. Neither organization is making any money on these lessons. Please contact Tom Swander @ tswander002@woh.rr.com or Scott Herman @ bhahah@aol.com for reservations. Reservations will go quickly and are first come-first served. Don't miss this opportunity to work with one of our sports best instructors.

Bill is one of the best there is and we're fortunate to have him come into our area so often. Lately he has been getting a lot of requests for clinics in and around Texas so don't miss the chance to see Bill while you can.

I got the following from an email from Bill...

Yes, you spend way too much time on message boards. Ha ha. But they can be fun, I admit it.

Can you please post on there, for the person that was questioning it, I am in Toledo Fri and Sat for a coaches clinic then to Dayton on Sunday for the pitchers. So, it's not on my website but I will be at Dayton.

Thanks

Bill

Chris as far as style and method how close is Bill to Doug Gilles in their teaching.

Several of our girls have been to Doug and after wards seem to pick up more speed and have less arm and leg problems.

I have been told Lisa, Jenni, Lori have similar pitching styles in general, is that unique or does Doug and Bill teach something different?

We focus on the upward motion of the ball hand and K position as to hitting for when we load and go to toe touch.

Thanks for your input

With regards to pitching mechanics, in my opinion, there is not a lot of difference between Bill and Doug. Philosophically they both see pitching as a blend of styles and absolutes. Absolutes are the non-negotiable mechanics that all high-level pitchers exhibit. Styles, however, are individual and (here is the important difference) optional. As an example, there are many grips a pitcher can use to throw a riseball ("styles"), but the ball has to have the correct rotation for a riseball to rise ("absolutes").

They both emphasize the mechanics required to pitch that maximizes the forces involved in delivering the pitch. Things like balance, leg drive, flexion (whip), and snap are what they key on. When they look at elite pitchers in the women's fastpitch world they see them performing the same key motions that the elite pitchers in the men's game do. So when you say that Lisa, Jennie, and Lori have similar pitching "styles", Bill and Doug would say that they have similar pitching "absolutes".

A agree with Chris. Swifty has worked with Bill over the years and Doug and Bill are very similiar. They are also friends.

What ever it is that Doug teaches our kids that have been to him, they picked up more speed and movement and their leg and arm problems went away so I would say Bill will find similar issues to help the kids.

Thanks

Very much enjoyed the teaching Bill gave to my DD. As soon as he walked up to her, she is 9, he called her mini me. She smiled like she saw Santa for the first time. He talked in language that all the girls could understand. Had fun with them and told a lot of jokes. We will be back at the one in Dec. and would go to any others Bill puts on, if we can afford it. Tom and Scott, I want to thank you for bringing Bill to the area for my DD to learn more and become a better pitcher.
