Bow Net Big Mouth? Tee recommendation?

Based on reviews I read on here a while back, I purchased the Bow Net Big Mouth instead of a Jugs net. I've never been able to figure out how to get the silly thing back into the bag. So.... I'm hoping the reviews are still as positive as in the beginning.

Anything I should know about the Bow Net? We're just using it in our own backyard, but it will be taken down to keep it out of the elements. Likes? Dislikes?

Also, does anyone use the 5 point Jugs tee? Good, bad, ugly? If not that one, what do you suggest? Ours is not a good one, just a cheapie Wal-Mart one that does the trick for now.

Thanks for your suggestions.

The Jugs 5-point tee is a quality piece of equipment in my opinion. Due to its rugged construction, it is on the heavy side though.

Have Bow net but not the one with the pocket. I just have the regular one that I think is listed as a soft toss one and love it. Easy to put up and take down and don't have to dive in the net to get the balls every time.

If your looking for a tee that is portable, check out Tanner tee. My husband just added one to his collection of stuff this year. It is very lightweight and compact but a little on the pricey side ($50). http://www.tannertees.com/

We have a Bow Net with two nets, one with and w/o the pocket. Initially we were using regular softballs with the net and some of the netting was breaking. Changed to whiffle baseballs and working very nice. Much easier to transport that the Jugs net we've used in the past. As mentioned above, like the Jugs 5-point tee as it's very durable. I've never seen the Tanner tee, but from reviewing their website, looks like a nice tee as well.

Touneys should add Jugs net take-down competitions for the coaches. :lmao:

Maybe they could charge admission to that instead of gate fees. That is something I wouldn't mind paying for! :)

A non-sanctioned "national" tourney in Tennessee arrived advertised a Jugs net put up/tear down competition last year. Sounded fun!

I bought a the Big Mouth in Feb and cannot be happier! Putting up an tearing down is a breeze and not to mention it all fits in a bag no bigger than a fold up chair that only weights about 15 pouonds! Comes with two anchoring spikes and we have only had to use them once so wind not a factor!

I am surprised we don't see more Juggs tear down clips on uTube! I know I have seen plenty of attempts go bad and fast!:lmao:

As for tee's I have been using a single position Schutt for about 5 years! It has lasted through 2 girls and a boy hacking at it, very thick rubber material like the Juggs. I have found it easier to just move the tee into the positions around the plate! IMHO

I went to the Bownet soft toss net and love it--easy to get up and down, and much easier to carry than the Jugs net. I also have the 5 point tee--the only thing I don't like about it is the smell when you first buy it. After awhile the smell goes away. But it is a great tee in forcing the girls to adjust their swing.

Yeah, I forgot about the smell of the Jugs tee. Ours is about two years old now, and you can still smell it, but not nearly as bad as when it was new.

I just got a cheap tee so I had time to research and order (Jugs 5 pt. tee is only available online through Dick's). My DH thought the house was on fire when he walked in - it was in the family room and he could smell it in our bedroom.

We ended up leaving it in the garage, but it stunk that up too. So we left it out in the rain. Smells like burnt bacon.

That said, we LOVE LOVE LOVE the Bownet. DD can put it up and take it down all by herself (bonus!) and it is super easy to store. Slides right under the couch near the back door! :yahoo:

Thanks for the recommendations!

They have one at the All Sanctioned World Series in Columbus that FastPitchShowdowns runs. I surely will not be entering because I use the Bow Net as well and love it. I actually just got the bow net back stop and think I could enter a set up contest for it. This thing is great!!

The directions or the you tube vide shows 2 coaches setting up the back stop in 3 minutes. I have this thing up within 90 seconds by myself. I am not bragging, just letting you know it is easier than it looks. This net is great for hitting practices with limited space. We set it up in the outfield for soft toss while using the pitching machine. Yes it is a great soft toss net, but more importantly, it proects the tosser and the batter from the balls hit off the pitching machine. I am planning on getting 2 more so we can have 3 stations set up on the outfield during hitting and be abel to protect our girls better.

For those who have the Bow Net Big Mouth, can one of you measure the length of it in the carrying case and tell me how long it is broken down? I called customer service and they were no help. Thanks.

The carrying case is approximately 44" long with a circumference of about 24" (with the net broken down and stored inside the bag). Used the Jugs net in the past and this is nice. I bought both the big mouth net and an additional net (with no big mouth). After using both, I really like the net w/o the big mouth as it's easier to do soft toss on both sides of the net, getting done with soft toss in half the time. We use softball whiffle balls when doing soft toss. Very easy to assemble & break down as well as carry & store in vehicle.

The Schutt Travel Tee is nice. Portable and stores in a bag similar size as the Bow Net. I don't own one but planning to get one for our team this fall. Saw this tee being used by a lot of travel teams and coaches have nothing but good things to say about the durability & portability. Might want to check them out.

Right now we're using the Jugs 5-point tee and it's working nice, just the Schutt travel tee looks nice as well.
