What type of tournament schedule should we expect? Our 8U team will likely play 1 fall tournament and 4-5 spring tournaments locally with one overnight trip to the World Series in Columbus, OH.
What is Rise 360's stance on multi-sport athletes? We encourage athletes to be athletes and play multiple sports. Our coaches and training staff will make every opportunity to ensure our Rise athletes can get their required softball training around their schedule.
How much will it cost? Rise 360 is a non-profit organization so all fees received will be invested into our young ladies for insurance, registration, tournaments, uniforms, training, etc. You can expect rates commensurate with other high-level travel organizations with a major difference being we plan to focus more on training and development and less on traveling for tournaments every single weekend. So we expect the overall fees to be considerably lower. Additionally, we have negotiated discounts with top instructors exclusively for our Rise athletes so we expect to save our families money on training compared to what they have spent in previous years.
What type of time commitment can we expect? Individual coaches will have full control over their teams' schedules. But, you should expect a minimum of 2 hours of team practice per week along with 1 hour of hitting. Pitchers and catchers will have additional time commitments. We value our families' time and will have flexible scheduling to allow our young ladies to work efficiently. For example, a pitcher will have the opportunity to have a pitching lesson and a hitting lesson back to back on the same day at the same facility, saving an extra trip.
Where is the home base and where will the training be done? Our winter home will be at Full Circle fastpitch in Poland, OH. Full Circle has a large building with full turf, multiple batting cages, and in-house professional instruction covering all facets of the game. Plenty of room for throwing, pitching, live hitting, drills, and workouts. Full Circle also has a separate building with a full gym and agility space as well as an sports performance trainer on the same property. We also expect to work indoors on the campus of Youngstown State University once per month at a minimum. The YSU facility has multiple indoor fields and can be used for organization practices or games. Once outside we have secured several fields in the New Castle, PA and Youngstown, OH area for use.
Will the focus be weighted more toward player development or wins and losses? 100% player development! We have a plan for offseason work that sets us apart from the rest and we are excited to put it into action. Our coaches, instructors, and trainers will be working in concert to make sure we are giving each player measurable goals and working towards accomplishing them.
