This event was scheduled for June 10,11, and 12th with Mike Craig as Tournament Diector. As of today, Mike is no longer associated with USSSA in any official capacity.

Denny Rose, the State Director, has asked Terry Folino and I if we could take on the Southern States. We can do this and we will. However, due to the field scheduling it has become necessary to change the dates as follows:

The 10U will be June 4-5 at Rotary Park in Beavercreek-- I will be the tournament director. If interested, my email is darden@hotmail.com.

The 11/12/13/14U event will be May 29-30 at Rotary Park in Beavercreekwith May 31 being used for a weather date. The State event will take the place of the 12/14U Shootout at the Creek, so if you are signed up for that one, there's no need to sign up again. Terry Folino is the TD for that one. His email is tfolino@woh.rr.com

Both Terry and I will be glad to answer any questions you have about the events.

USSSA and Denny Rose apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused teams and letting you know now you will be able to book another event for June 10-11-12.

One last thing---USSSA is working to change the start dates of the 11/13/15U national event that is being held in Akron from Monday, July 12 to Wednesday, July 14. We all think this would save teams money by compressing the scheduling and overall make for a more enjoyable week for the parents.

Thank you for your time.

Good news that the 10u state is in Beavercreek and the 12u and 14u as well.

For all the teams looking for a place to play that weekend now in June (11th-13th)... the 10u and 12u ASA State Tournament is in Fostoria, Ohio. Link to the tournament is http://www.game-ex.com/vb3/showthread.php?t=21981

It is GREAT to see that USSSA and ASA can co-exist in the state of Ohio for the benefit of the girls.

What's going on? 11u/13u/15u nationals were in Columbus, we were going. Then changed to Toledo, then we wasn't going. Then changed to Akron with a different date, we are going again. looking at another change.

We decided to do southern states, and changed our schedule. Now It's changed new venue and new date....

:)...:confused::(..:confused::).....:)...:(..:mad:

Hey Go: they are just trying to shorten up the date in Akron so it is not a whole week thing and a big burden on the parents and the pocketbook.

As for the State dates changing..... they have to do what they have to do... but you will like Beavercreek better as a location to play as well.

Now you can attend both USSSA and ASA State events in the 10u and 12u divisions. That's a great thing for the girls I think personally.

It doesn't matter for the girls. There are plenty of great tournaments to choose from across the state other than "official" state tournaments. Who it does matter for are the teams that must attend a state tournament because of nationals and now their schedule is messed up again. This in turn causes a snow ball effect for TD's who now lose teams because teams have to pull out of their tournament to go play a State. I already had to notify a TD to tell them one of our teams has to pull out so they can play the State to be eligable to go to nationals and his tournament was full and turned away some teams. Also, now I have to let my parents know their vacation is going to change because we were going to take Memorial day weekend off this year..not now. Its not all that great.

OK. I suddenly feel the need to go get some cheese and find a violinist.

I thought NSA was the only one that made a team play state to go to Nationals and had heard they didn't make teams do that anymore for 2010.

But, to me, I think I'd want to be state champions... no matter what association it is.

According to his profile in the OFC, he lists himself as NSA Southern Ohio Director. But maybe the profile was never changed. Not sure.

I feel your pain... just retooled the schedule today. For me it actually worked out better once I got done drinking that same wine and beating that guy with the violin up.

We realize the scheduling problems this could cause but we felt that by telling all the teams as soon as we found out that Mike wasn't going to be with USSSA anymore that teams could reschedule now a lot more easier than a month from now.

We could not accomodate the expected number of teams in Beavercreek on the June 12-13 weekend, so we decided to go with May 29-30 for the 12/14 event since a 12/14 event was already scheduled then. The 10U event also fell prey to the field availability on June 12-13 and could be accomodated on June 5-6 in conjunction with the 18U Shootout that is limited to 16 teams.

Mike will have to announce his plans.
