Heard doom 96 beat Static in finals 5-0. Congrats to the Doom, they played well this weekend.

Watching semi's, Static didn't win many neutral fans over. With them leading and timer counting down, saw coach call time out and walk to the mound, stop to tie his shoe. Then with time down to maybe 15 seconds with 2 outs and 2 strikes on his batter, he called for a pinch hitter to let clock run out.

Good stradegy, as a fan I would be suprised if he had let that oppurtunity go by and lost the game.

Good job coach, and no we don't play for this team.

Sudden Death 12U went 5-0 in the 12U-B. They beat the OFC Hotshots, Bustos Ultimates (twice) and the Lady Mustangs (twice).

The championship game was against the Lady Mustangs. Sudden Death won 5-1 .....

I agree, it was great coaching from Static. They were fighting umpires that were very inconsistent.

As far as the Sudden Death winning the U12B division, congrats to them, but they are by no means a B team. When their girls can look male coaches eye to eye and tower over other teams, they are not a B team. They need to step up to A and get some competition at their level.

First - Congrats to John & his girls for winning the 12U A division - they executed at the plate, on defense, & Bailey pitched a great game. We have had epic battles all year long & look forward to the next time we play each other. How cold was that water John?

As far as my coaching strategy, in the semis, I did everything I had to, all with in the rules of the game. For the record, I did not tie my shoe but I did stop, take a knee, & adjust the tongue of my shoe. I thought it was a pretty good move to call for a pitch hitter w/ 2 strikes, 2 outs, & being the home team. I absolutely did not want to play another inning as my girls only got twenty mins to loosen up before the semis (our first game of the day) as they moved the start time up 1/2 hour early. We were not notified of this even though everyone was supposingly told. My pitcher did not have a chance to lossen up & did not want her to have to pitch another inning. I agree that the umpiring was inconsistent in the semis, but at the end of the day, you have to play the game.

I do not coach to win neutral fans over, I coach to make my girls better ball players so that they can succceed as they progress in their softball career. We fully expect to have people rooting against, except for our parents - this comes w/ the territory when you are having success.

Congrats to my girls for going 5-1 this weekend.

The 12u bracket is pretty deep and competition isn't lacking. Exciting times and hope to see some games myself.

Having been to many tournaments, could somebody explain to me why in a tournament the A teams and B teams are not seperated. I have yet to see a B team win a tournament where several A teams are present. Seems unfair. Hebron had it right last weekend.

I have to disagree with you here. ?The size of the players should not determine if a team is an A team or B team. ?This team, I believe, is only in their second year of playing fastpitch. ?They need time to learn the game. ?They need time to develop their pitchers and catchers and work on all the aspects of the game. ?In a few years, when they're ready, then they should move up, but for now, they are playing where they need to play.

So, congratulations to the 12U Sudden Death for their win this weekend and keep up the hard work!

Congratulations to the Doom ?96 girls and coaches. After watching them over the last several weeks at different tournaments (3 2nd places and 1 1st place) in 12u play this is one very good true 11u team. They have outstanding pitching, they can hit the ball and have very good defense. After shutting out the 11th ranked team on the 12u coach?s poll for the championship this weekend we should start to see them in this week?s poll.

You are correct. 6 of my girls just started playing fastpitch last year. The other 4, this is their first year playing travel ball.

I also agree that size shouldn't determine if your an "A" team or a "B" team. I do have to say that this group of young ladies are developing quicker than anyone had anticipated. That just goes to show how determined these ladies are to compete. They practice hard every week and have been doing so since the beginning of December. When they step onto the field, it really shows.

I cannot stess enough how proud I am of how hard these girls have worked. They truely deserve every win they get.

Hey Rhino, Thanks, but I don't know about that. We have a long way to go to be on that list. Can't believe we missed playing each other the last few tourneys. Seems like most of the time the Doom and Stingrays are automatically paired up. See you this weekend.
