yes. ?Ohio Roadrunners have an excellent one and another thats not too far back of the first one. ?PA Lady Roadrunners a top notch one also when she is on which she always is against us. ?Top guns #1 girl can be tough. ?Ohio Ice - Silver have a few good ones. ? Watched a good one over the weekend from LAdy Lasers gold and a few weeks ago noticed a pretty solid one for Valley Extreme White. I'm just mentioning the ones that qucikly come to mind. ?Please do not take offense if I have not mentioned one that I should've.

As far as speed the Ind. Rebels have a flame thrower. If you get a chance anywhere in the WV/ohio river valley to catch the Mountian Thunder they have a very nice pitcher. Emily A with the doom is very good, our own Wild Thang 11yr old Taryn Alvelo is good. Hopefully in the next 3 weeks we will see more of Ohio's top arms . Coop from the rays threw a shutout against the Lasers red. Thats some that come to mind . MD

I hate missing this weekend's tourney due to travel, one of the local team's coach said his girl is throwing 57-59. ?? I'm not going to discount it until I personally see her. She shut us out 1-0 in a shortened pool play game last year when we sat a couple regulars . she threw hard last year. we will see. MD

Sue Ellen Shifflet from Bugtussle bar none. She was invited to the olympic trials but turned down the offer when she found that she would miss the Bugtussle's Founders Day Square Dance. She was also reluctant to miss the Chilhowies Tractor Pull contest in the fall. She is reigning champion.

Sounds like a lot of people are getting caught up in speed, speed, speed. Be careful folks. Good hitters will hit that speed. I'd much rather have a pitcher with good movement.

Sorry - I think I just hijacked a thread!

I would have to agree. In one of the fall tounaments, my four pitchers had a total of 4 walks in 6 games. The trick is to KEEP THEM OFF THE BASES. Though they have good speed, the trick is to hit your spots and let a good defense take over in case the ball is hit.

Get the 1st pitch strike and nibble the corners, mix off speed and movement if you have it. I've had flamethowers in the past but give me a girl that can hit the location anyday.

I have also heard this from a very Wise Pitching Coach ;)

My DD pitches in college and she occasionally throws 48 - 50 mph.

I agree with your comment. Speed isn't everything, sure helps though.I'd rather have a pitcher that can hit her spots along with movement. I'll take a pitcher like that any day. ;)

I would have to agree with softballcat12... emphasis on speed alone is way over rated. Who cares how fast you can throw if it's all over the place. Command of the mound, body control, movement and placement gets the job done just as well. Not to mention endurance. My DD throws 52-54. And if they get a hit off of her, that's what the fielders are for. ;) and darn good ones too.

Let's go play ball!

Ok, ya got me here, I've not tooted my daughters horn before, on here, but as she's been reading this thread lately, I will just this once. She is a 12U pitcher, hits all her locations, and has good speed. She works hard and loves pitching. She plays for a community based travel team so doesnt get noticed much. Good luck this year Dakota W. !!!!!
Thanks for the opportunity to make her happy though! :)

Not to brag...My DD got one up on most of the pitchers out there, not a flame thrower, she is good with location, but....she can turn her hearing aids off at anytime and block all the other teams out. (and her coach and overly excitable mom.)
