If what we're mostly talking about here are the younger age groups finding a place to play this time of year (with most org's tryouts being done already), then you should know that we don't hold our tryouts until 8/27, 9/10 and 9/17. If you know of girls who need a place to play, bring them to the Ohio Fury tryouts. We don't have to have every stud on one team, we will coach the girls. Someone is talking about "supplemental drafts" and things of that nature -- it's not necessary. Some org's may want to just have their tryouts for the younger girls later. For the older...if you haven't filled your roster in time for fall tournies, then it may be time to give up on it???
If interested in our tryouts, let me know.

Having tryouts in September is risky to say the least... But, if you are only one of a few to do so ( never heard of it in my life actually)... then you have waited out the "war"... so to say.. between orgs and players and movement, etc... then you might have success in recruiting players in September.

I've never heard of tryouts in September... and I don't know if anyone else has either for that fact.

Good luck

A lot of older teams are folding releasing girls back into the mix. I don't think it's over yet either.

Joe, we all run programs to make money.... we need money for uniforms, equipments, facilities, entry forms, insurance, banners; some programs pay coaches expenses and some pay coaches as well as other program expenses.
No one said "profit".

I don't consider those things "making money." If the revenue is going straight into operating expenses, that's basically a non-profit. I am thinking solely of coaches getting paid. I don't consider paying for coaches' expenses to be "making money", either.

Now, don't be bashing each other...

Wizards just lets any girl who has the desire to play ball.... have a place to go to do so with their different levels of teams. Everybody uses a feeder system.

You can't fault anyone who tries their best to provide a place on a team for any girl and give them opportunities to get better and move up.

God bless them for trying to do so.

We don't quite let "just everyone"... and no, lots of teams don't have their OWN feeder system. We all know that some programs feeder systems is another programs training program.
Besides training and opportunity, we are still having some success at the higher level sending 2 teams to the USA/ASA Nationals (3 qualified) one to the Eastern, one to Northern and one to the U***A World Series.

What about the owner of the org pocketing a large amount of the money for profit.... and i sent you a PM, this is the first team

Answer is --> Depends on the organization.

Not all orgs have the same management skills. Equilibrium finds itself. You can't define a clear cut roster size or time frame when a team should fold. Hopefully you put your trust in a good organization and an honorable coach to begin with. If you made the right call in the first place, you should be able to rely on them to make the right decision. Good luck to all.

We have one team in each age group 9U, 10U, 11U etc. Occasionally, we will create an extra team if there is enough pitchers/catchers and talent to do so. Only if we feel that the team can compete but we watch what tournaments that they go to. We have several teams each year attend nationals and some older teams attend many showcase tournaments. At the younger age, we try to give as many as possible a chance to play as some girls develop later. We have 3 10U teams for next year. As the girls get older, we don't take as many unless we have an exceptional age group.
Many organizations, like ours, are 501(C)3 organizations that you must file a return each year with the IRS. There are guidelines that you must follow.
