Can anyone explain N$A thought process to me?

My dd played at the spanodome this past weekend. 1st time there. a little cramped and not much warmup area but suitable.

When we arrived saturday morning for her game, I questioned the TD about the single elimination tournament that was to begin saturday night. She gave me a bracket sheet with the seeds and explained how they were doing it. I took the paper and did not put much thought into it. While waiting for for dd to play I began to study the brackets and could not believe what i saw. The number 1 seed was playing the winner of seed 26 and 28 not problem there. number 3 seed was playing the winner of seed 5 and seed 7. I thought how can this be. I examined things farther, number 18 seed was playing number 20 seed and the winner of that would play the winner of the 22 and 24 seed game. It would pay to be the number 18 seed. I questioned the TD again and she said this is what the state director had set up. I explained the brackets to her (maybe she did not look at them that closely) and she said she understands completely what I was saying. She said that the state director was calling in a couple of hours and she would talk to him about it. Mr Spano said he wanted things corrected before the tournament next week. When I looked to the spanodome website late saturday before heading for our midnight game, the single elimination bracket had changed since that morning. Why would you create a bracket where the 3rd seed is playing one of the top 8 teams and the 18th seed is playing possibly 2 games against 2 of the bottom 8 teams.

If you look at the bracket that was used, you will see that NSA along with the Tournament Directors, corrected the bracket prior to single elimination. The original bracket was set up for a blind draw.

yes you are correct but when I spoke to the TD on site she said that was what they were using. Only after I spoke and explained things to her did she say she would explain that to the state director.

buckeye, N$A doesn't understand their own thought process, rules or anything else. They accommodate accordingly to the $$$$ before their eyes.

In NSA tourneys (maybe all sanctions), always have someone from your team around when the brackets are made. At the 16U Spano we were seeded last in our pool until my husband pointed out that we were really 2nd after the tie breaker (3 teams had the same record). They fixed it for us, but not for the other team that had gone home for the day.

You mean NSA does brackets for you? Last year we were not sure about something and it took them a while to get back to me, then a few days before the tourney was to start, received a bracket which did not make sense.
