Can We All Just Get Along!

WVAN and Quaker. My dd and I are going to all of the events that we can, ie clinics, lessons (Pitching and Hitting). We are basically sponges at 10u. I can say that I have not met anyone that has not been extremely gracious and a pleasure to work with/ talk to. Even though people get heated on this forum at times, I would be suprised if when face to face they would not be happy to talk for hours about the sport that they love. I want to personally thank each and every person out there contributing to this forum. It does help us younger parents to the sport.

As a somewhat recent member of only a couple of years, I am very grateful for the OFC and all the great folks who have offered wonderful advice and help. I think that every softball parent should be told about the OFC when they sign their dd up for a team.

There is alot of BASHING on the OFC these days it is crazy. Who cares what other teams or organizations are doing. There are alot of EGOS that get involved with posts and for what? We spend so much time with so many teams through out the year to get on here in the off season and talk about who or what everybody is doing wrong. It is nice to get imput for other teams during the season at tourneys and make new friends. Very hard to do when alot of this stuff going on. My opinon is that the OFC was created to help everyone in the softball world not tear it down. I just think some people need to grow up!

grow up, what fun would that be... love the drama... my version of reality TV.

Buckman, thanks for the thread. This could get derailed like looking for players can these days...

There is always going to differences of opinion on just about everything. That's just life. It's not "can we all get along?" because facts are we won't all of the time and that's okay. That differences in views can be a healthy thing.

There are two parts to every point, what the point is and how it is delivered. It's the cliche of a good salesman can sell ice to an Eskimo. People seem to focus too much on the "what" of the subject like winning, medals, trophies, accomplishments. And people tend to miss the "how" like attitude, voice tone, body language, etc.

In other words, two different coaches may tell a player and/or parent they see a deficiency in a swing. Same "what" be said by both coaches but depending on how that is communicated you can easily have two completely different reactions. Same thing for parents, if they are concerned about their kid's playing time or development, by "how" they approach the situation will get different results.

It just seems the good old common sense and common courtesy has evaporated when it comes to sports. So to me, people need to relax a little and realize that little Suzy most likely won't be the next Jenny Finch and make it as enjoyable for the kid as you can (and the coach, team, and everyone else).

Just saying...

I think you still see some good attacks now. The big difference is now folks create a new screen name to do thier bashing. I wish this site had a way to limit people to 1 screen name. Then if you wanted to say something at least you could be held accountable.

You folks should have been around here the first 3 years the site was up. It was brutal. It is so calm now it is like the Mickeye Mouse Club.

OFC is a slice of life and not everything is lollipops and rainbows. It's real the way it is, lets keep it that way. I think some get too thin skinned. It's not hard to pick up on where a discussion is heading and if it makes you uncomfortable stop reading and move to another topic.

Well all know is, that if all the know it all travel ball coaches and these terrible high school coaches (like myself) would just realize that the parents know it all and their kid should be playing short and batting 4th, things would be better off.......just saying....:):):)

I agree with Musty, keep it the way it is. It wouldn't be so fun or informative if everyone agreed on everything. Grow a little thicker skin and you'll be fine.
