Field of Dreams catching instructor is accepting news students for the fall and winter. Several prior students have graduated or gone on to college, opening up some instruction time.
FOD is located in Lancaster and is a facility that is large enough to allow catchers to work on full-length throws to 2B.
As a catching student at FOD, you will do a lot more than JUST get reps. Proper fast techniques will be taught. I consider myself the Howard Kobata of catching. :) Every coach out there says "You gotta block that ball!", but are they teaching the payers HOW to do it? No disrespect to coaches, but who is at fault here? It is true that so few know the precise techniques to teach them HOW to block, the proper footwork for throws to 2B, 3B, pickoffs to 1B, for catching fly balls around the plate, for managing bunts, blocking the plate etc.
I do. and that is exactly what I focus on the most....technique.
Outside of the pitcher, no player on the field handles the ball more than the catcher. Pitchers spend a lot of time during the winter working on their craft....catchers must do the same!
"A good catcher can make a good pitcher look like a great pitcher."

Remember this....there has never been a no-hitter or perfect game ever thrown in the history of this game without a catcher! Coaches-if you have your pitchers, taking lessons, and your catchers are not....you might want to consider making a suggestion to them. . There are so many facets involved in catching, I couldn't even go over every one of them in a 4 hour lesson, so don't think that going to one college catching camp in the winter is not going to cut it. They need consistent, repetitive reminders, just like the pitchers do.
If you would like to discuss scheduling your daughter for some catching lessons, feel free to call/text 740-503-7563. Lesson rates-$35 for half hour, $70 for an hour (Starting Oct 1). $30/$60 until then.
6 & 12 lesson package deals are offered by FOD for a discount.

Lastly-lessons are not intended ONLY for the 9-11 year olds who are just starting out. I have been working for over a month with a 17 year old catcher who plays for a high level travel team, and I will honesty say that I have been able to help improve her technique, foot speed, glove management, ball control, blocking, etc. Lessons can help any age player, 9-18.
I look forward to working with your daughter!
