I was glad to see that some of the posts in this thread were deleted as they were totally inappropriate. With that being said, let's give Josh the TD a chance to address what happened with the brackets when the weather changed everything. Let's not assume the "fix" was on ... I heard there were some heroic efforts to get the fields playable at all, and some other tournaments were cancelled this past weekend. I know Josh worked really hard to make this a successful tournament, and I personally believe him at face value.

And I don't hate 10U either. There sometimes seems to be a disproportionate amount of drama in this age group, but I got the opportunity to watch and even broadcast a 10U game in Marion a few weeks back and saw nothing but class and sportsmanship from players, coaches and parents.

Now here is some funny stuff about the brackets. First off I didn't have a single dog in the field. My Dd team got rained out. We have parents on here boohooing about there team (10) under was one of the best teams in the field. I take that as if they were Ohio Ice parents, who are from my area Northern Ohio. I can't remember one time on this forum where I saw anyone from Lasers,Roadrunners, Indy Dreams crying about there brackets in February when they were all put into a brutal bracket together in the Spano. Ohio ice you guys host that? Just asking cause those teams just went out there and played. Another thing don't claim you are one of two of the Best teams in the tournament and barely beat a Strasburgh team 1-0. Sounds to me that this (Td) if this tournament needs to fed Ex this coach some medals cause he wanted to play for 2nd place!

I have to say, this was our first trip to this tourney. I saw something different. I saw everyday people busting their butts to get fields ready so our girls could still get games in and play. I saw fundraising and a community effort to honor a sweet young lady taken too young. Regardless of our team winning or losing, we were there for the community and what it meant to them. Our family loves softball as much as the next, and yes money was spent, however it was for a good cause. Sometimes its not about the medals and drama. JMHO

You are correct PP - This tournament was about honoring the memory of a young lady who was gone way to young - I saw a lot of people working hard to make it a success in spite of some very bad weather THANKS TO ALL WHO GAVE THEIR TIME AND MONEY - we enjoyed it and hope a lot of other teams did as well
Since the system only allows for 1 thumbs up here is 5 more;

I will say I have been down there from the start of this tournament, the weather has come into play almost every year but they do there best to get teams play time. It would have been easy to cancel this tournament on Saturday, instead you witnessed dozens of people getting the fields ready so that these girls could do what one girl is no longer able to do because she was taken so young.

Granted, hardware is nice but let's not forget the true meaning of why these girls play softball as well as the true meaning of this tournament! 1st, 2nd, 3rd, hell last doesn't matter you get to enjoy your child doing what she loves, you get to watch her grow as an individual, others unfortunately do not have that luxury due to horrible circumstances! Let's keep things in perspective!

Wow! Now we know the fix is in. All negative comments about this tournament being run poorly and manipulated to benefits some teams have been deleted. At least leave the facts up on the page. The facts that all day Saturday there was a bracket. Then mysteriously on Saturday night the bracket was changed in an illogical manner.

BTW I did e-mail the tournament director to ask the question what happened. His response "I apologize. I got a little overwhelmed getting the fields ready and it didn't dawn on me to simply cross out the consolation bracket. It was an honest mistake with no other agenda."

So to recap, because the tournament director was so busy he took the time to drop up an entire new bracket with no logical explanation as to the seedings. In 10U (go ahead make fun of 10U I'll wait...can't wait to see this discussion get sidetracked because of the hatred for 10U on this board) the top 2 seeds teams who gave up 1 run total in pool play were seeded in the same 1/2 the bracket. The two teams playing in the final game of the night saw this and decided they both wanted to lose to get into the other side. They flipped a coin! They didn't play! The coin flip winner went to the other side of the bracket and the loser played the Roadrunners. If the original bracket was maintained the winner would have avoided the Roadrunners. Top it off with our coach called about the bracket change and was told by the tournament director that the good thing is this would give a lower seeded team a chance to play in the Championship!

I was warned by many prior to our trip to Zanesville about the shenanigans that happen down there. This year I got to witness for myself.

Few things here:

1). You know that coin flip was at about 11 pm on Saturday night, after dealing with weather all day and being there at 10am, it was tough enough for adults let alone 10 year olds. If the coaches both decided that's what they wanted to do, so be it.

2) you do realize you have to play all teams to win it, does it matter if it's for 1st and 2nd or 3rd or 4th

3). I give road runners kudos for having everyone scared to play them

4). I can not understand why or how anyone would use the word "shenannagins" to describe a MEMORIAL tournament to honor someone taken too soon. as well as help many girls with scholarships and support?

5) Did you get to watch your DD play ball and enjoy herself!!!!

Be Thankful!

Just wondering who the lucky recipient was, my daughter got interviewed for it, obviously not the winner. Just wondering who got it. And congrats to the lucky lady.

We would like to thank all the players, coaches, parents, fans, and sponsors for your support this weekend. My family would like to thank all of the volunteers who worked countless hours to support this event. Would like to thank our UIC Paul and his umpiring crew great job gentlemen. Also want to thank Rick Wagner and his folks for getting the temp. fence up and great food. Rick thank you for all your support and help. We want to thank Ricky Moorehead for coming down and broadcasting the 12u Championship game. What a great game it was too. And last but not least we want to thank Josh Bobo our tournament director for all the hours and hard work he put into this event. And even though I know he is kicking himself for the pitching rubber mistake no one has put as much time into this event as he did. For me it was a great weekend of softball we seen some great girls playing great softball. I could see the spirit of our daughter Celine Wyatt through those girls who left it all out on the field. No matter what the score was there were young ladies playing with a heart and desire that made Celine smile from Heaven. That for me is a successful tournament. Good luck to all the teams as they face all the challenges that will make them a great team if they choose to fight though them as a team. As we always taught Celine hard work in the winter means big pay days in the summer. It's Pay Day for these young ladies.

To those of you who feel you were cheated at the Celine Wyatt Memorial Tournament and are blasting the TD all I have to say is good thing this is America and you can say what ever you like. First let address the RR 10u team. There have been top notch 10u teams in this area for some time now. And when Celine played her first year we got beat up by some of those teams. We never backed down and we took our lumps just like everyone else. And it never made our girls give up. Mike Johnson gave up a lot of weekends sitting at the Mall looking for players he has put together a great team and has great supporting coaches that work with him. Yes they have won lots of game and yes they have been beat. And yes this is my opinion when you invest as much time in putting together your team and invest as much time in working with them as this group has you will have similar results. This complaining sounds like rec ball your in charge and stole all the best players. So sick of the whining you want to win all the tournaments you play in then put the time and effort in that it takes. And yes we have been beaten by this team but instead of crying about it we use it to show our girls what hard work will do for you. We use it to challenge our girls. For those of you complaining would you let your daughter read this crap and is this what your teaching them. We all love to win and I get that but no one gives me anything I have to work for it and I'm going to teach my girls to work for it. But the coolest thing of all is we choose what tournaments are girls get in so feel free to choose another next year. There are plenty of teams out there who do things the right way. That understand life's not fare umpires make bad calls sometime it's part of the game. But there has never been or never will be a fixed winner at the CWMT. Your going to earn it. If life was fare then there would not be a CWMT because my daughter Celine Grace Wyatt would still be here playing the game she loved. And no one ever gave her anything in softball she worked hard for everything she earned. You worry about teaching your girls that and the rest will work itself out.

Reading and hearing about what goes on in Travel Softball with Head Coaches, Parents and Tournaments/Tournament Directors makes my Head Spin sometimes!
There will be mistakes made by all! I like what one person said awhile back, If you think you can do it better than do it! Most won't because they can't or aren't willing to donate their time. Isn't America Great, we all have Choices!

My daughter's 10u team played in the tournament this weekend. Props to the field crew! No one can control the weather, those things happen. We had a good experience. My first trip to Riverside Park and it's a nice set up, nice area. Good job to everyone. I got to walk around between games and enjoy a lot of softball and daughter had fun with her team. Enjoyed the ceremonies on Sunday morning. Let's hope for sunny and 70 the rest of the season! It was a nice weekend away for me despite the rain and cold.
