The best bet is the team with the pitcher who has taken the most lessons. ? ?Many Middle school teams have players experiencing the game for the first time so any team with a pticher has a big advantage.

Hilliard Weaver 7th grade will be a very very strong, with two pitchers, one from the Buckeye Heat and the other played with Hilliard Cats.

The Libety Union girls will be tough. ?They will have 10 girls that currently are playing on travel teams. Between them all, there are pitchers, catchers, infielders and outfielders.

Having watched these girls since they were just starting in rec ball, they just love to play the game. ?It ought to be a pretty exciting year. ?The Liberty Union Jr. High program is run as a club activity so the girls are allowed to be participating at the same time with their travel teams. ?The best of both worlds.

How many teams are in the league and are they OHSAA sanctioned?

Hilliard Weaver had a strong pitcher last year. Her coach expected a lot of her--she was exposed to some tough situations and really gave it her all. I only saw her once, but she seemed to put her heart into the game.

Liberty Union is in the Mid Stae League, Cardinal Division. Don't know about sanctioning. The Jr High has been club sport since I have been here (6 years) and they play other jr high teams, in and out of the league. Other teams in the division are Newark Catholic, St. Mary's (Fisher Catholic), Millersport, Berne Union, Grandview Heights, Licking Heights, and Harvest Prep.

Without any doubt the team to beat is Teays Valleys Eighth grade girls. They have two pitchers that are far advanced for their age. A catcher, 1st basegirl, shortstop, and three outfeilders that are second to none. These girls play on the same travel NO, Tournament team (Vikings Elite 14u). This past summer they played 14u gaining much experience with most of them able to stay down and play 12u. They also have A girl from the classics and A couple from A local travel team which completes the package for an exceptional school ball team.

I have to agree with No5o, the Teays Valley girls are very tough. I watched the 12U Elite girls last year and they were very good. Playing up always builds skill and confidence. Good luck. I think it was #5 or #7 that can really stroke the ball deep.

liberty union and the teays valley girls have been playing against each other since rec all star tournaments at 9and 10 years old. they all play travel ball now. they have split the games to date. im sure they wil play this year and it should be another great game. maybe we can get a home and home and play twice. this has been a friendly rivalry to date with many of the girls knowing each other and being friends.

Pickerington Central's 8th grade team should be very good. They have two good pitchers in Long and Martin plus several strong postition players. These girls are playing in a JV 6 on 6 league this winter and are doing great.
