I was able to confirm 6 dates for USSSA fast-pitch events in central Ohio for 2009. These will be updated on the national USSSA site in the next 10 days along with the Ohio and Central Ohio USSSA pages. Please be patient, I have an 7 1/2 month pregnant wife who is getting all of my time right now.
May 9/10 - Mother's Day Classic 10-U/12-U/14-U Columbus at Berliner Park. Tournament will be limited to 10 teams in each age group. 5 GG for $300, pool play of 4 games, then single-elim bracket to conclusion. Good way to get the rust off the teams for the '09 season!!
May 16/17 - OFC Spring Blast 10-U/12-U/14-U Wilmington at JC Williams Park - click on link for contact and tournament info: http://www.ofcheat.com/heattournaments.html. 5 GG for $350.
May 30/31 - Central Ohio Fast-Pitch Invitational (formerly Columbus NSA Invitational) 12-U/14-U/16-U Columbus at Berliner Park. 4 GG for $325. 16 teams max in each bracket (The 14 & 16-U bracket fills every year by March 1). 2 game mini-bracket seeded into double-elim until completion.
June 12/14 - Central/Southern State 12-U/14-U/18-U Park Pickerington at Central and North high school facilities. 4 GG for $350. 2 game mini-bracket seeded into double-elim until completion. Highest finishing "odd year teams" (11,13,) will be recognized as state champs and receive direct berths into those respective worlds. This event may start as early as noon on Friday June 12.
June 27/28 - 2nd Annual Slam-into-Summer 12-U/14-U/16-U Class B NIT Columbus at Berliner Park. Tournament will be open to teams classified B or lower odd year. Example: 16-U "B" and 15-U teams in the 16-U bracket,etc. Berths will be awarded as follows: Top 2 16-U B teams will be offered direct berth to B Nationals. Top 2 15-U team will be offered 15-U National berth and 16-U B berth. If 15-U team declines 16-U B berth, it will go to 16-U B 3rd place team. This will also count for the second 15-U team if they decline the higher age group B berth. 5 GG for $375.
July 3-5 - Firecracker USSSA Qualifier St. Paris, OH 12/14/16-U teams at St. Paris park. The cost is $375 for a 4 GG. To obtain more information, please contact Curt Schaeffer at jscha71355@aol.com. The complex has 7 fields, full concessions, no gate fees, and shelter houses. There will be fireworks on Saturday night with other festivities starting at 7 PM. Address for complex is 316 Huffman Drive St. Paris, OH 43072
