Drawing for pools is set for Sunday - play starts on Monday.

NSA will hold registration open to the last possible second (revenue maximization) before setting the pools, which will drive the bracket arrangements. The brackets will reflect the total number of registrations.

Based on reviewing some of the previous year's results, I expect that all teams will play a single pool game on Monday and a single pool game on Tuesday (which will complete your seeding). Four teams to a pool - two games on Monday. Winners play on Tuesday for 1st and 2nd place. Losers play on Tuesday for 3rd and 4th place.

On Wednesday, you might play two games if you win the first. If you lose, you will play one game.

Thursday is knockout day. Wednesday losers are gone once they lose their second game. The double elimination bracket will keep coaches and teams busy - expect multiple games if you are winning. Expect LOTS of games if you are playing in the losers bracket.

Friday will drive the remaining teams to the championship game.

Great for the hotels - the tourney is structured to keep everyone around until Thursday. Good for the hotels, food service and concession vendors.

NSA does a poor job of updating their websights, so it might be more than a week before you get any results from them. Hopefully a coach or parent that attended will respond with the info we seek.

OH Lady Cats took 5th place in the 16u division. Way to go Cats... The girls played hard ball on Friday. They won 3 in a row on Friday and lost the 4th game to the Wizards who took 1st place in the OH states and then took 3rd place in Chattanooga.

The Ohio Fury 18U team won the NSA "B" championship by winning 9 straight games and posting an 11-1 record. After winning both of their pool games, they lost the first game of the double elimination tourney and were sent to the losers bracket. They then played four games a day for the next two days in 100+ heat. The finals were Friday and they were facing the undefeated Stunners from KY. The Fury jumped on the Stunners and stunned them 3-1 in the first game. The Fury then defeated the Stunners 4-3 in eight innings in a tie breaker fot the championship. LaGrange Keystone's Kristie Malinkey pitched 77 of the 81 innings and set a tournament record of 11-0 with 111 strike-outs. The Ohio Fury and Kristie Mailnkey will have their pictures and an autographed ball encased in the NSA Hall of Fame in Lexington, KY. Way to go Fury!!!! We are very proud of your victory!!!!
