Valley_Storm it was actually $15 per person for the weekend or $8 per day. Still I think it was kinda of high thats for sure. Again $5 per car per day would have been plenty.

I was told, but I'm not sure if this is true or not that the TD (or Team Akadema who hosted the event) did not have anything to do with the gate fees. I guess the park collected all that for themselves.

Were there many college coaches there? I saw a couple on Saturday & dd got a card from one, but I didn't see any on Sunday or today unless they were hiding in the bushes LOL.

There were more there than you know. I was looking over material at the college coaches check in tent when 3 of them checked in. Not a one had any attire that identified them as a college coach. I guessed they did not want to be pursued all weekend by well meaning parents and coaches.

Ohio Classics 18u Black finished the weekend 4-1. Only loss to a hot hitting Indy Diamond Chix 18u. I believe Heather Hurley was the Classics player in the home run contest. She's been hitting them that way since we started playing together on the Buckeye Heat '92 team 6 years ago.
My only complaint for the showcase was very bad field conditions for the pitchers, too few college coaches there for a "showcase" and the gate fee.

5) the home run derby winners were not even recognized. would have been nice for the girls who did great to get some pub for their efforts. At least announce their names and Org over the loudspeaker. Or give them a free tourney shirt. something. no tourney rep's were present when the HR derby ended. 3 girls out of about 40 hit 4 homers in 10 hits.
Brittany Duncan 18u hawks
?? from 18u Ohio Classics
Kayla Koch Doom 95.
QUOTE]

Kelly Browning-Ohio Hawks 94' had four home runs.

They actually had one player that hit 5 home runs on her second or third time through. I think it was a college player from WI

Go Heather!!!!!!! Will always love my Buckeye Heat '92 girls!

Sounds like Classics 18U had a strong weekend. Have to fully agree on pitching area. Girls had to dig a trench 4-7 inches deep to get to anything solid to land on. Comical at times that 1 pitcher would dig it out, then the other pitcher would fill it back in :) Relieved I did not see any of them roll an ankle.

Not to metion field #2 was turf. That was an issue for all the pitchers , since the rubber set up in the air. Let alone the lip between the infield and the outfield. That was my only complaint. Only one umpire issue. Our pitcher got called for an illegal pitch , has pitched all year in showcase events and not once has it been called. . Umpire needs to read the rule on presentation. PS: Dan we are 15's, not 16's..

Ohio Classics 16U Black team went 4-1 on the weekend with wins over Indy Chaos 18U, OFC Heat Orange 18U, Wisconsin Bandits 18U, Indiana Magic 18U, and one loss to the Illinois Outlaws.

Very good weekend for the Classics team.

We had to dig out the pitchers mound for every game. I started saying to the infield that it was time to part the Red Seas before each game. There was a 10-12" tunnel in front of the mound. Also, what was up with field #2? Concrete pad with outdoor carpet? WOW....Played 2 games there.

Overall, great competition, outstanding food. Marion Diamonds 18u goes 2-2-1.
