Ohio Fire over C.C. Cannons 8 to 4
Miami County Blaze over C.C. Cannons by 1 (I think 7 to 6)
Keep in mind The Cannons are a young 12U team playing up to try to improve.
Of the 3 pitchers used one is 11 years old and the other two are 12.
It’s Good experience for them.

This story starts when my pitcher walks to the rubber and notices that the wrong rubber had the circle drawn around it. I pace off 40' and uncover the correct rubber, and she proceeds to warm up, No problem.
Game time is logged as 6:32pm. The opposing coach complains to the Director and asks if someone is going to correct the circle. After a 5-10 minute discussion, The game finally begins.
It was a very competitive game, and as we headed towards the later innings I hear the opposing coach REPEATEDLY ask how much time is left? The opposing coach asks if the game was over since time had expired and the umpire explained that the time had not expired, since there was such a long delay to discuss the circle being around the wrong rubber at the beginning of the game.
They take their at-bats in the top and as I am heading out to coach 3rd in the bottom of the inning, I hear the opposing coach continue to REPEATEDLY say that the start time was 6:32pm and that the game should be over. The opposing coach then proceedes to say "ANYTHING TO HELP THE OUTCASTS" loud enough for everyone on the field to hear.
I respond "How did WE get into this?".
The opposing coach ignored my response and CONTINUED TO COMPLAIN "This game should already be over." At this point I called my team in from the field and asked them to "Line-It-Up". As we go through the hand shake line the opposing coach asks "I don't understand what I did wrong?"
I had come to the point that if I did not remove myself and my team from the unsportsmanlike situation that I MAY HAVE SAID or DONE something that would not be appropriate for a Summer League game!!! I explained that we had a second game scheduled at 8:00pm with a team that WANTED to PLAY BALL. After I had shaken hands with ALL of the young ladies AND opposing coaches and had congratulated the opposing coach on the "BIG WIN" and was walking away, the opposing coach said "AWW, We would have WON ANYWAY." and "YOU SHOULD'NT GIVE-UP ON YOUR GIRL'S LIKE THAT."
I explained to my team that this was a SUMMER LEAGUE and that this game was for FUN and PRACTICE. if the opposing team NEEDED this win THAT BAD, then they could HAVE-IT.

Am I over-Reacting??? Is the season starting to get to me??? Is my skin too thin??? How could I have handled this situation in a better way???

It's a long season .. you did right by walking away ... that amazes me, we don't take the league for anything but getting work and fine tuning.. it must mean more than that to some folks... our 14u played tonight, I read your post and for a quick second I had to think to make sure they did not play you guys LOL.... I got there at 8 and saw your game behind us, the local non-travel team girls are getting better, they made some nice plays .. good to see.

That is a nice league but the cross field foul ball bombs are going to get someone killed...

Our girls had a LOT of FUN that game.

We let one of our girls pitch that had'nt pitched since REC-Ball.

We played our starters in the outfield and the bench.

Our SS and 3rd base took turns catching. :lmao:

A couple of our players called pitches and sent the signals into the catcher.

It was a BLAST!!! :yahoo:

Good for you, I could see they were having a ball... allowing players to call signals ... that is brave! After all the weeks of battle, it is good to let the girls have some fun... nice touch!

Casey, i commend you on being the better person, what did the ump say, did he reset the start time because of the circle thing? If you have a problem like that flag down Shorty, myself, or Lou and make it known, and if we're somewhere else, call, Ill pm you our cells.

Ump explained to the opposing coach that the official game time had been pushed back bacause of the complaining about the circle, that took forever. Opposing coach just would'nt let it go. Due to this long delay he decided that we did'nt need to have the traditional meeting at the plate with the coaches before the game.

The opposing Coach seemed more interested in getting a WIN based on the time limit then based on the PLAY on the field, Which is a shame because the young ladies on the field were ALL playing very well and had NO issues.

Apparently the opposing Coach had an issue with the umpire in this game. However, That does not give the opposing Coach the right to degrade the OUTCASTfastpitch Coaches or Players. The opposing Coach made comments in the dugout, that could be heard by myself at 3rd and many young ladies on the field, that implied that the OUTCASTfastpitch young ladies or Coaches had done something WRONG!!! We will not allow our young ladies to stand on the field and let an "ADULT" imply that they had CHEATED in some way.

At the end of the night I talked to Shorty and Lou and let them know what happened because I wanted them to know why I removed our girls from the field.

I was pretty upset at the time, But as usual we will put this incident behind us and go PLAY BALL and HAVE FUN!!! :yahoo:

I was at this game and you can slant it any way you want but the coach did not degrade you or your players. Especially the players. You have you view which is slanted to your side. If the score would have been reversed at the end of the game you would be singing a different tune. You are leaving out to many details and I guess just venting. Lou handled the details. On the positive, all the players on both teams played very well and nothing should take away from that. And, other than lightening, there is no reason to pull players from the field.

I will not allow our girls to stand on the field in between a Coach and an Umpire that are having a spitting match with one another. Especially, When there are implications that WE somehow did something WRONG???

Don't know where you were, or what you heard, But the FOCUS during this game was NOT having FUN and playing SOFTBALL.

I am glad that I pulled our team from the field because I was told that the situation escalated even after we had left and that one of the parents from the opposing team was ejected from the park. ;&

I saw this develope. Did not hear what the parent said to the umpire (should have said nothing anyway) but saw the umpire (accidentility?) poke him in the face. All down hill from there. Lou was standing there and handled it. It never would have happened if you had stayed on the field.

How can the OUTCAST be responsible for a dispute between an umpire and parent of a player from the opposing team just because they left the field?
