Cleveland State University will be hosting the 2nd Annual Holiday Classic 3-game series for 10U, 12U & 14U Fastpitch Teams. The tournament will be held at CSU's indoor dome facility on Payne and E18th. The indoor facility houses two-full softball fields at 190ft-left field, 200-center, and 175ft-right field, with state-of-the-art turf.

Each team will play from 8:00am-6:00pm on their scheduled day. 10U will play Monday, December 27, 2010, 12U will play Thursday and Friday, December 30/31, 2010 and 14U will play Tuesday, December 28, 2010.
The entry fee is $325, which includes each team playing a 3-game series, umpire/facility fees, and game balls. Each game will be 75-minutes, a drop-dead stop, and ASA rules. Only 9 teams will be accepted per age bracket, so register quickly as space is limited.

If interested in participating in this tournament please respond to this thread or email Stephanie Taylor at s.taylor04@csuohio.edu or call 216-403-4558.

Nice facility. My niece plays there in a winter league and we went to watch her. They use regular balls not those mushy ones. There is a lot of room for pop ups. We watched three high school games and only one fair ball hit the dome.
I'm hoping there is enough interest in this tournament at all age levels. my daughter's itching to play.

Ever thought about doing a tournament instead of a three game format? Don't get me wrong.. having inside time is nice and this place seems to be able to give the girls just that... I'm just wondering from my perspective as a TD and maybe having a qualifier there for the Circuit of Champions points ... http://www.game-ex.com/vb3/showthread.php?t=22329 or even a qualifer at the very least.

Great fields/place. Lots of room. Just dress warmly, and make sure you lock your car and don't leave valuables showing in that area.

Tim ... its essentially a small city block. They put a dome over their entire outdoor ****** field in the winter. There's not only enough room for the 2 almost full-sized fields, but for parents to sit along the sides and the four teams playing next to warm up as well. Their winter camp/league has 48 high school teams in it, playing 6 doubleheaders over the the course of the winter. Of course they also use the dome for their softball, baseball and ****** teams to practice in as well. You should come see it some time. I've only been to Kent State and Spano to compare it to, but I can't imagine that there's a better overall indoor facility in the state where high school girls are getting to play in the winter.

Two full-size (200') fields, the turf is the artificial grass with the rubber pellets inbeded to prevent it from flattening out, the ball plays very predictable off of it, the ceiling has to be 80' high if not more outside of the infield. Aside from the cold and the fact that they need to adjust the direction of some of the lights, it is a nice place to play.

Actually a couple weeks ago, I rode up to Kent State with a friend to take his son back to school and I am sure we will be going back up there pretty soon to get him for Christmas break. Might take the extra time to go see this place if the weather isn't bad. I just think it must be a great place to play and the girls are able to sharpen up their skills during the winter. Love seeing them advertise in the OFC and get their name out into the softball community down this way as well. You guys up North been keeping this place a secret ?

I think this is the 4th year they have been doing this. I have been involved 2 of the 4 years ... daughter playing 2 years ago, and coaching now this year, and have been posting scores and info all along. But I don't know that the coaches at CSU have used OFC during that time period to advertise events like they are now.

Well, I'm glad to see it advertised for the girls. I can't see any reason why the Columbus area teams aren't going that way as well. Of course, maybe they are and I don't know it...lol

But, wow. I like it and haven't even seen it....lol
