It is amazing how a girl is glorified as a result of her skillful displays at Softball, which is a good thing, isn?t it? I mean, after all the running and the pitching, enduring all the risks including developing muscle pains and/or sprains, you surely deserve a pat on the back. However, you will agree with me when I tell you that there is a set of people who deserve even a much heavier pat ? the coaches and speaking from a perspective of someone who has been there and done that, it will serve you better to pay attention in order to understand the ordeal we go through in creating refined Girls Softball players.

A rookie season is a tying time for any Softball player but it is often tougher for the coaches as well. To begin with, we face all manner of attitudes and that?s where most girls get it wrong. Sad to say, there are those rookies who already consider themselves as having arrived and a simple correction is enough to throw them off balance. As you may know, Softball requires co-cooperation as it is more a team work than it is an individual endeavor so if you cannot play in harmony with the rest of the team, then the success of the future of the entire team is as good as done. However, we are professionals and someway somehow we manage to handle these errant attitudes and get these young girls to approach the game with a better mindset.

Another experience we often encounter while dealing with young girls is making them adapt to the rules of the game, and that goes for playing as well as training. Girls should understand that softball is for divas as it is not only relatively easier to play but also has fewer injury risks as compared to other sports such as baseball. However, this is not to mean that the training sessions have to be mild and weak.

As a matter of fact, we try to encourage girls to train more often as they naturally expose their bodies to more effective workouts as compared to other sports. I will not use the term hyperactivity here but I will say that as a trainee in Girls Softball, you should always be on the chase. This is because while on the field, you may not necessarily be assigned one position and will often find yourself running around the different bases, swinging the bat, rotating and changing positions etc. Once the girls understand that you don?t always have to be a station fielder, and that you might often have to change positions such as being a shortstop, then they appreciate the need to be active and versatile.

Lastly, and more importantly, we try to mentor the young girls so they not only excel in the game but become responsible people who might even later train others to perfect their Softball playing skills. Some of us play the father figure, or the mother figure for that matter and we try to come down to the level of the girls and understand their personal challenges so we may try and help them overcome these challenges with a view to assisting them polish their playing skills.

It is often a trying time when the young girls come to us and open up on certain personal affairs that are hampering their training progress. At this time, we drop our professional persona and begin reasoning with them from the standpoint of a parent or mentor. In the end, our success is enjoyed, not only in the field but beyond; not only for now but for tomorrow and that is how we shape girls into refined Softball players and just maybe a legends in life.

I'm not sure why it's matters, the person just wanted to make a post about his/her views. I surely see nothing wrong with the post. Maybe you can point out why you have a negative vib on this post.

I'll be honest - it Just felt Hinkey. This section especially seemed a bit out of place here - seemed purposefully inciting.
"... Girls should understand that softball is for divas as it is not only relatively easier to play but also has fewer injury risks as compared to other sports such as baseball..."

Lets say that raised an eyebrow since it was totally unnecessary in context.

I agree with you Cobb on that section of his/her post. But except for that I thought it was not a bad post for a new member.

I agree. The part about the injuries is incorrect. While baseball and softball are among the safest sports from an injury standpoint, softball has a higher rate of concussions and other injuries. Google it and you'll find multiple studies. As for the divas comment, I don't know what you mean by that. The girls I watch my daughter play with and against are nothing of the sort.
