To all parents of college students;

Louuuuuise starts college in a few weeks. They have their matriculation ceremonies soon after Freshmen report. Do parents typically attend? I understand the "welcome to college, life starts anew, etc..." aspect, and I will certainly go if it's expected. But my daughter says that it's no big deal if me and the missus (Mary Louuuuu) don't go.

Do most parents go to these events?

Matriculation ceremonies are held annually to welcome new students to a University. Matriculation is the term used to describe students' formal entry into the University and is described in the University's Regulations as "the act of placing a student's name upon the matricula or roll of members of the University." As your D.D. said you don't have to go is right. I really wanted to go but D.D. said no don't come, I think it's their way of saying, life starts anew, Not a bad thing, wanting some independence.

we attended our daughter's matriculation. It was a big deal to the school. It was evident with all the alumni that showed and the amount of speeches given.

It was also well attended by the incoming freshmen parents. we got to her's early and lucky we did. Seating filled fast. we dressed comfortably, but not totally casual. students dressed nice. skirts, dresses, lots of heels. boys had shirts and ties.
