Does anyone out there have any knowledge of or experience with college recruiting company NCSA? We were recently contacted by these so called coaches and scouts and prompted to create a free recruiting profile on the national NCSA website guaranteeing exposure to a huge pool of college recruiting scouts. However, after doing so, we were telephoned by a NCSA "scout" for an "interview that we were told was necessary prior to posting the profile. Seemed like a normal but overly complmentary spiel that lead to a recommendation for an advanced recruiter counseling with a NCSA "coach". This would require advance scheduling and guaranteed participation by both parents and my DD. It was at this point that that I strongly suspected a forthcoming hardsell for services though no mention was made of fees at this point. Sure enough, after reviewing the confirmation email from them, a found a notation near the end of the communication that there "may" be fees involved for services. Any information that anyone has would be greatly appreciated if, for no other reason than to confirm or dispel my suspicions.

Save your money and time. College coaches are out and about working hard trying to find their next recruit...they want you the player/parent doing the same. College coaches that I know do not use these services...they expect the families to be doing the work themselves...thats part of process. I'm sure players have been recruited using these services or they wouldn't be around...but the money you spend (in most cases over $1000) is just not worth the money.

Work extremely hard developing your offensive and defensive skill set. Put a short inexpensive video together showcasing your talents and send this to the schools you are interested in possibly attending (MAKE SURE THEY OFFER SOMETHING YOU WANT TO STUDY!!!) Contact that coach frequently via email or attending camps, clinics, games, etc. Get them your schedule of HS and summer travel games so they know when and where you are playing. Take the ACT or SAT early and often so when the school is putting a financial package together they can give you solid $$$ numbers based on those scores, GPA, etc. Get the FAFSA done early (January/February) of your senior year of HS. Keep your nose clean!!! Don't be Facebooking, tweeting, snapchatting, etc anything that could tarnish your reputation or show you in a negative light...EVER!!! Once you hit send it is out there FOREVER!!! Lastly...be an outstanding student in the classroom and a standout human being in your community. Both will be expected when you attend college and throughout the rest of your life!! Best of Luck!!

NCSA doesn't do anything your daughter can't do herself. It doesn't hurt to have them, but you don't need them. They make it convenient since everything is in one place (video, profile, transcripts, etc.), but again, your daughter can do this herself. Most college coaches won't pay much attention to e-mails directly from a recruiting service. I do sometimes look at my NCSA page and see what girls are interested, but I never just randomly recruit someone off of NCSA or any of the others.

My daughter has the free account. She has never mailed coaches from the NCSA site, she always does that individualy.

We do use it for the search function though, for instance you can get a list of all D2 schools in the state of PA. Then we look at that schools website and check the academic programs to be sure it has what she is looking for, and then get the coaches email.
