Conditioning, How's It Going?

Well the high school board is grinding to a hault. Just curious how everbody's conditioning is going. Getting good turnouts? Any interesting Drills? Any new players move into your district?
As some other teams have in the past and now many individuals I know, Anthony Wayne has added a "Core Stength Program" being run by trainers at Synergy in Toledo. Synergy has put together a very nice package for the girls and the girls are getting professional trainers to work with them. So far, the response from the girls has been great, and the coaches really like the continuity and completeness of the training. Seems like a step in the right direction for us. Synergy is also offering a supplemental program to help the coaches continue the girls progress after the original 12 work outs.

Max Performance has done the same for our players. Really changed the way we approach getting our pitchers ready. A lot more low impact and shorter recovery time. So far I am really impressed.

I know at my DD`s school the turn-out has not been the greatest :'( ?for conditioning... as for open gym hitting leagues it has been OK.... :) the girls show up and have some REALLY good coaches from a local college(smaller one I think) work with the RVP hitting style. I can not speak for others but it has helped my DD ALOT and just like everything else the more a player put`s into it the more they get out of it JMHO....

BTW 18over... maybe more like SANTA CLAUSE than a snowman(little grey showing up) JUST KIDDING ? ?

We havent quite started conditioning yet because we can't seem to get much gym time due to girls basketball and baseball teams. :(

jc2376,...Isn't that the truth,....That's why A.W. has gone to work something out with Synergy, and renting an A.W. supporters Barn for workouts. A.W. has 2 gyms and a weight room and it's probably easier to get into Fort Knox.

We are in week 13 of our strength and conditioning and it has been going great. For the 8-10 girls who have been coming on a regular basis, they are really starting to see some tremondous results.

Hey Thunder, It sounds like you are a BIG support of Synergy. I can remember when I told you that my daughter was going there your reaction was less than enthusiastic and I believe you were questioning (perception) why people would waste their money on that. All of the sudden Anthony Wayne does it and it is a wonderful thing. By the way, GChart was asking Biscuits how to do a couple of the drills/exercises and she showed her how to do them. How's that for the girl you said is too serious and needs to lighten up. If she was that mean/serious she would have told her to get lost. ;)

Just wanted to prove to you that biscuits isn't that bad of a kid. ;D

Happy Holidays everyone on OFC.

If my softball team were being left out of gym time and the baseball team was receiving it, I'd be raising absolute he**. That's a very easy to fight to pick.

Our girls will start next month at High Intensity Training twice a week. Right now they do some conditioning on their own twice a week and open gyms twice a week.

Thats kinda how it seems to be working out right now at MTown but we also only have one gym but every now and then they let us use our football complex which has a much smaller gym. :(

Heat,.....I apologize for seeming less than enthusiastic. I think I was lamenting the ever increasing cost and need for specialization. Speaking generally, our dd's and their pitching coaches, hitting coaches, personal trainers, bat of the month club membership and so on. A.W. probably wouldn't be there if we had any decent gym time. As I mentioned in my origanal post, I know many individuals having a positive experience at Synergy. As for Biscuits, I have talked to you and her both privately about simply enjoying the experienes she's having now and not just the final goal. Old saying goes something like, "The trip is half of the fun of getting there".

Spirit1,....Our caoch negotiated a fee based on a minimum number of girls to attend and each player was responsible for that amount.

The poll should not be how many girls are attending conditioning, but whether your school even has conditioning this time of year. Some of you who have it may be assuming that most schools do, but my bet would be that most don't. We don't even have the facilities do it right before the practices officially start, as we only have one gym and basketball is still going, and the small weight room must be shared by every other sport. Most of ours is done in hallways in late January and February.

One thing I have learned is that most girls will do things that are set up for them and won't do things that aren't. In other words, only the most dedicated will do conditioning and lifting that is set up and left to the players to run (except for lifting which is run by a lifting coach). But if the coaching staff sets something up more formally and is there on a regular basis, most of the girls will take part.

This generation is so used to having things formally scheduled for them that most won't go hit or take some grounders just off the cuff. Some of the girls will do that, and it's always a pleasure to see.

My DD says there's 16-20 girls at conditoning on Tues and Thurs. Seems to be going well she says. Your right Joe if you have a system that's set up they will use it. It's nice to see the dedicated ones helping out with the up and coming girls.

Our school will start conditioning/open gyms as soon as we get back from break. A few of the ladies are anxious to get going. Others... not so much. We lost a lot of senoirs from last year. It'll be fun to see who shows up and which of those young ladies emerge as leaders.

Going great at Liberty Union. I'm seeing players dropping 5 to 10 pounds quickly. They are getting stronger and quicker. We have a great weight room with plenty of room.

Anthony Wayne's workouts at Synergy have been well attended and both trainers have done a great job with our girls. I think they've made our coaches conditiong work outs go alot easier for the girls.
