D1 Softball in Southwest Ohio?

Two of the biggest D1 schools in Ohio are in the Cincinnati area (Univ. of Cincinnati and Xavier ), but neither of them offer Fastpitch Softball as a varsity sport. ?Southwest Ohio is loaded with fastpitch teams, most of them are among the best the state has to offer, not to mention the high level of competition in the high schools.

Seems like softball players are missing out on alot of opportunities by these schools not fielding softball teams.

So why do these schools not have softball programs? ?What has or hasn't been done to get softball programs started at these schools?

After looking at both schools' websites, it seems UC has women's Lacrosse (12 scholarships) instead of softball. Xavier does not have football, all other sports have both men's and women's teams so it looks like they offset their baseball team with volleyball.

These are just speculations.

You are correct Tigersports.

Along with the fact that both schools are "landlocked." There is no place to put a softball field/ stadium.

there was talk about 6 or 7 years ago about UC starting Softball. But nothing has happened. Xavier will never have to get softball because they do not have football, and there is no need to add another team to their list of athletic teams.
