Sorry about the low post count, but I have not been able to access my old account on the new forum. My name is Bill Vasko, and I was recently named the head softball coach at Wheeling Jesuit University in Wheeling, WV. I've had a couple of players transfer which has freed up some money that I can offer to a player who has not signed to play anywhere. I know it's late in the game, but if I don't use the money, I lose it, so I'm trying to reach as many people as possible.

Wheeling Jesuit is an NCAA II institution that participates in the West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. We are a private school and the tuition, room, and board totals about $33,000. Most athletes will qualify for an academic scholarship based upon GPA and test scores. This academic scholarship will range from $7500 to $13,000 depending upon the numbers. I will be able to offer an additional $6000-$8000 in the form of softball aid.

My primary need is catcher and outfield, but at this stage, I will take the best player I can get. If there is anyone out there who may be interested, you can find my contact info below. The school's website is www.wju.edu. Thanks!

Thanks BearMay. I've gotten a few inquiries, so we'll see if something works out.

I just wanted to make clear that the softball money that I have available at this moment is for a player who just graduated this past year or someone who is enrolled at a school where they are not playing softball, such as a community college or technical school. Again this money is available due to players who transferred out because of the coaching change. I have to use this money before school starts, or it is gone. If anyone has players who are still in high school, I'd be happy to hear more about them, just drop me a line! Thanks!!

Wish I could send my son. He leaves for college this fall, and a Jesuit education would do him some good right now - or at least make him better at math.

Last call on this. School starts August 25th. It is confirmed that I have an $8000 softball scholarship available. Academic scholarships range from $7500 to $13,000 based upon GPA and ACT/SAT. I will offer the scholarship to a player at any position if I believe that they can help our team.

I really can't imagine NOBODY biting on this opportunity. I went to a Division II school where softball is a big deal, and there is some VERY serious ball being played at this level. Plus, WJU finished 8 games above .500 this season with a roster of mostly FR and SO. A very nice opportunity for someone who hasn't hooked on elsewhere yet.
Good luck to whomever takes this coach up on this opportunity.

We visited WJU last week on a visit for basketball. It is a very nice campus and community.

This is a great opportunity for some young ladies.
