I need ideas to help DD 12 U now. Tourneys and fall ball are over and team is taking a break. DD stills wants to play - We do batting cages, and pitching coach but what else can I do?
There are still many tournaments and friendlies going on and alot of teams need subs right now. Jump on one of those teams as a guest and get all the reps and at bats you can get.
I would recommend Speed & Agility training for the winter months, 100 swings minimum a day working on mechanics (these can be dry swings in the basement) and find someplace to long throw at least once a week(focus on accuracy and power). I am amazed every year on how many pitchers cannot throw overhand very well.
Make it fun would be my best advice and be sure she has time with her friends. If it becomes all consuming she may very well not want to do it next year.
Its not the worst idea in the world to take a little break either. I love it that your DD wants to keep going though! I tell my daughter that I want her to take a couple of weeks off and then we get back into pitching and hitting. She's usually pretty anxious to get back at it.
Like Klump said, look for teams to sub with. A lot of tourneys Halloween weekend. Post that your available. No tourneys between Turkey day and the end of the year which I always thought was enough of a break.

I agree 100%, that is the biggest thing I learned going through 10 to 18's , now starting again. I use to have my DD take a break (really it was for me) it always did wonders for her physically and mentally. Now that fall ball has ended my little team is taking 3 weeks off, we will practice for 3 weeks, take Thanksgiving week off, practice for 3 weeks and take 2 weeks off for the Holidays, at that time we are going full speed ahead.
I would take her equipment, lock it up for 30 days minimum and make her take a break.
Mentally and Physically it is probably the best thing she can do, and as a parent we need to push them in the right direction even if she has other plans.
Taking a break and resting her body is doing something...........
